There is just no way they have signed on a judge already. This has happened every year since Paula left and we know the judges will change time and time and time again only to be confirmed days before auditions. They have to keep any hype up and announcing or confirming a new judge right after the finale will do nothing for the next season. Jennifer may be a new judge but it wont be until after she denies the role, then rumors start up again in December.

Candice Glover and Jessica Sanchez were both very impressive during the National Memorial Day concert, last night.

I saw that. It's funny, during her season I didn't like Jessica very much. I did like Candice a lot. But last night I thought Jessica outsang Candice by a mile. For one thing, the Star-Spangled Banner really doesn't need melisma.

Jessica has obviously had considerable experience singing before large audiences since Idol.

Candice is just beginning to gain the confidence that comes with experience.
I wonder if she had ever sung the Anthem before, particularly in such a public setting.

This is true but I'm not sure it's just lack of experience. I often thought during the season that she overdoes the melisma for my taste. It just seems to be her style & that's obviously what some people like since she won AI but it's not my preference.

I doubt that Candice had more than one rehearsal at the venue for the live event.

Are any radio stations playing Jessica's music? Another idol bites the dust?

Apparently, she is enormously popular in the Philippines, where her family comes from, and elsewhere overseas:

So was Jasmine Trias from Season 3 who finished 3rd. I guess any Filipino contestant that finishes top 5 will be huge in the Phillipines.

I very rarely watch AI so I didn't know anything about Jessica Sanchez until her stint on Glee. I was quite impressed by her, so checked her CD out at the library. The first song, "Right to Fall", should be the official song for all Pride Parades this summer.

But some of the lyrics--Crazy Glue? Yikes!

Let's celebrate after we know who we're going to get instead. Maybe he/she will be worse.

    No wait, is that possible?

Does this mean Burt Bacharach week and Beatles weeks 1, 2, 3 and 4 are now going to be replaced by something more modern? One can dream!

Just so long as they're not replaced with Justin Bieber or Britney Spears weeks.

Britney week could be interesting, though. You can do a lot of cool things with her stuff. As already mentioned in this thread, Marty Casey's version of Hit Me Baby One More Time was pretty freaking awesome.

True. Well, at least those who'd cover it can actually sing, hopefully.
