    Bible or Bard?

New quiz in honor of Shakespeare's birthday/death day. It's tricky but kind of fun. I got 25/30.

Considering how similar they are in many ways, that's not bad at all!

Doesn't help that I am not a Christian (so there goes the Bible knowledge) and the college Shakespeare course which which I got an A was taken in 1998/99.

I got 28/30, but I have an unfair advantage--I did a test run on a few other Bible or Bard type quizzes before springing one on my lit class this term.

This one was a little harder than the others .

20/30, too! I clearly need to read more Shakespeare. (I usually can't make it through. I like watching it better than reading it! I was IN "Much Ado" so that one I still have half-memorized!) And since the King James is NOT my version, I should probably read that, too....(Catholics have their own versions, and for academic courses we used the Oxford Student Bible, which is a much more accurate translation than the King James--in fact that was referenced as a very bad version!)

21/30, but truthfully, there were only a very few that I absolutely knew, rather than making either an educated or uneducated guess.

21/30. This was hard. I'm handicapped on the New Testament.

I'm not going to get into specifics, but it's certainly frozen over.

20/30. They were pretty short quotes, making guess work on most of them for me as well.

27/30. Most of it was pretty easy. Two I credited to Shakespeare and one I credited to the Bible. Sunday School does pay off.

23/30. Probably should have done better ... when getting my BA, my emphasis was on philosophy of religion.

That one I knew. I missed "Holier than thou" and "two-edged sword."

I'm mad about that one. It's not in the Old Testament but it IS in the Passover Haggadah, and having just heard it a month ago I made the wrong choice.

Again I distributed an FSU-sponsored poll to all my U.S. colleagues and again they yelled at me and they all did it anyway and agreed -- this is hard.
