I agree. That annoys me as well. I'm sure, of course, that I have plenty of annoying phrases I repeatedly say, but I have a co-worker who says, "You know what I mean?" after, what seems like, every single thing she says. She's a lovely woman, but it annoys the heck out of me.

I was part of a review team that included a woman who would say "With all due respect...." and then proceed to rip somebody apart. After about two days of this, another team member pointed out to her that she was showing no respect to anybody; she was just being rude and insulting. Everybody on the team applauded.
When I'm old, I don't want them to say of me, "She's so charming." I want them to say, "Be careful, I think she's armed."

I hate the word "bling". I am always surprised at how many home decor/wedding/lifestyle shows use that word now. When I was planning my wedding a couple years ago, I had a florist who, on a nearly daily basis, would ask if she could "bling out my flowers".

I'm also not a fan of the phrase "I miss your face". I get what people mean when they say it, but it's still an odd thing to say.

Other annoying expressions: when people refer to someone's skating as being like butter, especially when it's spelled "like buttah". And anyway, butter is sort of oily so I wouldn't apply it to skating to begin with.

"The fact of the matter" is hideous. Also it usually prefaces something that is not actually a fact. But even if it does, just write "as a matter of fact", or "the fact is", or "the truth is", or even "purple". Anything but "the fact of the matter".

Yes, I feel very strongly about this.

When people abbreviate already short words unnecessarily. Like "w/" for "with" for example.

Oh, I remembered another one: on trend. It's not so much on FSU, but I also read design and fashion blogs, and you see it all the time. WTF does it mean? Why can't they just say something is trendy?

People who use the phrase "I'm not a racist, but" usually proceed to say something that is, in fact, racist.

And I harbour an irrational(?) hatred towards the term "shabby chic". A lot of the home decor elements I like could probably be classified as "shabby chic", but I refuse to use those words to describe my preferences.

I don't mind most of the things mentioned here, but I really don't like it when someone tells someone to "get a life". How much more insulting can you get than to imply that someone doesn't have a life?

I hate the phrase "it's not personal, it's business." It's very personal to the person who got fired. And thank the dieties that the word "leverage" is no longer in fashion. Also, our COO regularly says "irregardless." Makes me cringe.

I hate when any sort of critique or criticism is met with "you're just jealous".

I never really got that expression. Ice is hard and definitely can be slippery, but it isn't always that slippery. I always figured that people who mainly interact with ice as ice cubes made up/use that expression.

I hate text speak. And I hate it when they say something is gonna "drop" when it will be new in theaters or a new song or something.
