The term came about because Patrick Chan has a history of getting high program component scores even after making multiple mistakes in his program. But as it is, Chanflation doesn't really exist as much as the commentary wants you to believe. In fact, in most instances, Chan's victories have been more than fair based on the rules of the IJS.
