If so, that may be good news for Shae. Didn't they mention Anson was well liked wherever he played?
Too true. The audience was hugely families plus a lot of young women (figure skating fans). The young ones would not remember Oksana. It's really hard to tell what proportion of the audience was hockey mad. Not me!

I am twice "blessed" because I love hockey AND figure skating so for me, this is a match made in heaven for a fan of those two winter sports.

Never heard it described that way but yes I guess I am twice 'blessed' too. Really enjoyed last nights show, and it went by very fast. Surprised as well about Oksana, poor Marcy, again. Fave last night was Sinead again and Violetta, they were fanatstic. Damn Kurt was harsh with some of the marks though.

During a pre-season interview for BOTB, I recall Kurt mentioning he could become the Simon Cowell of BOTB.

As long as Kurt marks everybody on the same scale it doesn't matter what he gives everybody. I'm glad he shaved, but Jamie gave at least three couples in a row 5.8.

They are, after all, using the 6.0 scale - remember, the number is just a placeholder

The charity angle with this show is one of the smartest decisions they made. The clincher to get the hockey players to go along with it. Very very smart.

I'm assuming the people wondering how they get the hockey players to make such a huge commitment of time (and potential embarassment) might not realize that the participants are paid HUGE money..it's a closely guarded secret how much. That's why the show is so expensive. There's a large base salary and then every week that a couple makes it through, they get more money. All the hockey players give the line about not wanting to do it until they realize it's for charity, that sounds very magnanimous but you are talking about guys making a massive 4 months commitment of training and then the show which lasts until November. And I'm not talking about somebody being paid 40 or 50 thousand dollars to join the show...we're talking waaay more money than that. The final 2 couples probably make $100,000 each at the least. I'm betting more. I think the figure skaters might be paid on a different scale from the hockey players, who have lots more to lose (dignity etc !!) but the hockey players definitely get a pile of money, cause without them, there's no show.

Yes! If it had been just the pants or just the jacket, I would have liked the look better. Both together was just too much.
