I think the short winner can possibly get like 75 or 80
I imagine it is the "six of one, half dozen of the other" argument of other disciplines. Is it better to do a difficult 3-3 combo with a bit of a struggle, or do a 3-2 combo that is really outstanding? Or eke out a level 4 spin vs really rock a level 2 spin? I would imagine the skaters and the coaches do similar arguments to figure out what would garner the most points.

I would guess as far as GOE bullet points go, synchronization/staying in formation is gonna be very high up on the list of priorities as far as doling out GOE on elements.

Argh, don't think I've seen teams going into whips from a curved line before. . . dude, it's scary and risky enough going into it from two straight pivoting lines!!!

Russia 1 looks disappointed. Into 2nd place with 69 and change.

Nice skate from Team Russia but I have to cringe at their skating to a Whitney Houston song

ETA: Disaster from Team Sweden. one collision, one fall and then out of formation towards the end

Team Sweden 1's music was Hannah Miller's FS music this season. (The Storm by Balazs Havasi)

Poor Sweden 1. That was a big ole mess. I'd have that behind Sweden 2 and a couple of other teams.

Last year's world champs, Team Sweden 1 having a rotten SP. Two skaters out of formation on the whip, a fall in a block, some messy lines. . . Their MITF sequence was cool, though (COE spirals with half the skaters forward and half backward).

They skated at Nationals and States, that's how they qualified, Australia has another team that normally wins Nationals, so I think this is their first time here. They just haven't skated internationally, can you imagine how expensive that must be?

I think Fire on Ice competed at worlds last year. I think Nova competed at Nationals only in the last couple of years and it was a bit of surprise that they won over Fire on Ice.

Well, to be fair, those dresses are quite unattractive. Others may like them but I sure don't.

Team Finland one was crazy good, but they had two mistakes, one with the fall and then one girl fell behind in the formation. (Hope it's not the same girl)

Favs tonight: Russia 1 and their tribute to Whitney! Close second would be Sweden 2 and their Zombie program.

    No problems in SA.

Check out Bob B's facebook page he screen captured a heap of Team Australia photos, I managed to capture their score. One of our State Association board members is on the team Go Chelsea and an ex SA coach Sean Abram is the Choreographer.
