yay, excerpt for that starfish thing. That needs to go.

How will the Sochi Olympic Medals look?
    -positively garish
    -subdued and classic
    -flailing and over the top
-more creative and beautiful than the Albertville medals

One of Oscar the Grouch's favorite things to say is "Scram!" Have you ever heard someone use this word in real life or seen it used in written correspondence, online or otherwise?

much-criticized spirals I really like, though I'm aware of their imperfections:

    's arabesque spiral
Emily Hughes' arabesque into Biellmann spiral
    Slutskaya's multidirectional spiral
    Kim's change-edge-into-catchfoot spiral

Some people complain about the very slightly bent knee, as in the Olympic LP). It doesn't bother me, but it's come up in the Trash Can and (IIRC) an especially vehement, now vanished YouTube comment deploring her "crooked spiral" and "horrible cheated flutz" (fair enough on the second count).

Lipinski, I suppose, despite the back pumping and "jackhammer" takeoffs on the flip and "lutz".

I'm choreographing my own "Skyfall" exhibition right now.

To date, John Curry is the only gay skater to have been out of the closet (in the public sense) at the time he won titles at the World/Olympic level. How many more years will pass before there's another one?

Purple part of the charm of the sport is that it's like what Shaw said when asked what he'd do if the world were to end the next day; he'd go to Ireland. Why? Because it's always fifty years behind the times. (and )
    Purple who cares?
