Florent Amodio's road to Sochi (Associated Press' series of articles)

Associated Press article by John Leicester on Florent Amodio: An Olympic life and 7 vital minutes at Sochi Games
EDITOR'S NOTE: This story is the first in a series exploring how an Olympian prepares ó mentally, physically, athletically, financially ó for the biggest rendezvous of a sports career. During the next 10 months, The Associated Press will periodically check in with Amodio to discuss and track his progress on the road to Sochi.

Thanks for the new article. I didn't know they get so much money from shows.

I thought the same. Maybe only bigger and more rich shows pay that much? It is of course great if skaters can make a bit bigger money on shows.
So Art on Ice was the reason of Amodio's injury and being not well at Worlds... pity.

Here's the third article in the series: http://www.sfgate.com/sports/article...rs-4821225.php
    Excerpt:
Morozov guided Amodio to the 2011 European title. Before their relationship soured, "I'd always imagined that Nikolai would be my coach to the end of my days," Amodio said.

He's reluctant to dredge up details of what went wrong. "He gave me so much. I adored him. I don't bear any grudges," Amodio explained.

"There was a clash, a rupture, it felt like a divorce," he said. "I had a choice: Either I stay with Nikolai, where I was unhappy, things weren't working on the ice, they didn't suit me — it would, quite simply, have been the end of me — or I, quote, unquote, 'live again.' It was a renaissance."

"Separating from him felt like finding oneself alone in the middle of the ocean. I said to myself, 'Oh, crap. What do I do? How will I cope? How will I live?' But I also knew it was the only solution."

Time and the ice in Sochi's Skating Palace will tell if Amodio was right.

The latest update in the AP series following Amodio's preparation for the Olympic season, he talks a little bit more about his reasons for splitting with Morozov. Also, his free program will be Mack the Knife, La Vie en Rose and music from the band C2C.

WOW, I love Florent's SP! Elegant, sophisticated, joy to watch. LOVE IT!

I can definitely seeing him securing his 3rd National Title if skated clean. What a showdown it's going to be between him & Brian.

Here's the fourth article in the Associated Press' series on Amodio - re. costumes: http://summergames.ap.org/article/co...acter-olympics
    Excerpt:
Despite all the fussy details with the pockets and buttons, Amodio thinks his Olympic costumes hit the right notes. In years past, the French skater also has made some questionable fashion choices, notably including a tiger-stripe shirt with lime green collars and a black and red outfit with flaps and shoulder epaulettes that would have suited a Star Trek baddie.

But for his Olympic season, Amodio wanted "simple and sober."

"They're there simply to accompany the music. You see skaters with gigantic costumes. They don't know how to skate. What counts most is the work on the skates. And I have to be comfortable," he said.

    From Florent's Instagram:

Love my team !! @ Vaujany

Also, there was a video report about the French team:
    http://www.francetvsport.fr/stade-2-...6102013-183415

But the video doesn't play for me (geoblock, I guess). Can someone tell what is there? Or maybe even download and upload it somewhere?

When I saw Mae Berenice Meite skate last night, I thought "she and Florent need to do a duet." She was rockin' it out!

Just two months after he started working in Paris with his new coaching team, Florent Amodio feels "more than well," as he puts it with his usual enthusiasm. Prior to flying to his first Grand Prix event, Cup of China, Amodio and his permanent coach in Paris, Katia Krier, agreed to answer icenetwork's questions about Amodio's new skating life.

LOL, not a mustache, just a stubble (like here) and not very complimentary light.

What reut wrote . And Stephane is actually more often with stubble than without - the exceptions are when he is freshly shaven for a performance or something.

Shanetta Folle is coaching Amodio now? She's Morozov's assistant perhaps?
