Not a good idea to recycle programs for the Olympics.

At first i wanted Carolina to keep Bolero, only because she didnt skate a clean performance (nationals doesnt count). But now im leaning towards her getting new programs, as it will be her last chance to create something amazing and spectacular.

Kavaguti and Smirnov's LP. That program has Olympic written all over it.

If they don't use it, someone else should take the music skate to it.

It was my favorite LP this year so I hope she can skate it perfectly in GP.

I would really like Yuna to bring back her Arirang long program - she only skated it competitively once, and it was done at nowhere near its full potential. Jeremy Abbott mentioned last year that he would possibly bring back his Muse program for the Olympic season. I'm not too sure if I'd like that; it was a great program but I don't think there was a lot of room to develop it further.

Some place competitive and athletic, but ultimately more like an audition than anything else.

They all need to get new programs. It's was hard to watch some of these programs this year without seeing them again next year. It's an Olympic year they all need new stuff!

I think there should be a mandatory deduction for recycling a program during the Olympic season, um, just because I want to see splashy new programs duke it out.

That said, I am simply wowed by Mao's Swan Lake. Could she and Lori just come up with something equally musical/joyous/brilliant/amazing next year?
Didn't TAT choregraphy Swan Lake for Asada?

Honestly I don't see why many think it's such a great program. There's so much repeitiveness (the way she would always do a standard three turn to change direction and mowak into her triples etc) and the only really part that actually stood out a bit was the step sequence.

I'm also torn between Kostner keeping her LP and getting a new one. Bolero is amazing but I do think there's room for development still and I agree that there are some empty parts in the program. But I also would love to see something new from a master like her.

I hope Moore-Towers and Moscovitch keep their beautiful LP. I do not want to see either of Daisuke's 2013 programs ever again, nor do I want to see Florent Amodio's 2013 LP again (maybe I should say any Morozov program can be 'retired'? lol).

    Nobody.

I agree with Shine. I don't see why Swan Lake is so well-reviewed here. I think what made it work was Mao Asada's balletic positions and nice line. However, the choreography itself really isn't up to her standard.

I want to see Mao skate to something that plays to her strengths like Swan Lake, but a new routine...maybe something that will bring her artistry to the next level.

I thought Lori choreo'ed Swan Lake....? I don't think Mao is working with TAT now.

I would like to see her skate to Chopin. It's the perfect style of music for her.

I would love for a skater to skate to Handel's Passacaglia. I think Caro could do it real justice.

Kazakova-Dmitriev skated to it in 1998.

Has anyone won an OGM with a recycled program?

Viktor Petrenko was in his third season with the same LP when he won his OGM: here it is in 1990, 1991 and 1992. He did change the costume

ETA: and I suppose S/P's Love Story also counts.

Swan Lake for Mao was Tarasova's choreography, Lori choreographed Mao's SP. I don't know what Mao's plans are for next season but I don't see her leaving either Lori or Tarasova. The only change in Mao's choreographic team I can think of is for Tarasova to choreograph her short program and Lori her long. lol
