    Skating to 'Spartacus'

'Spartacus' is a great music for skating. It can be used successfully in any discipline. Here are some of my favorites:

    Ladies:

    Michelle Kwan- 2005 SP

    ttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5GfoX6o-0U0

    Yuka Sato:

    Ashley Wagner (2008 NHK)

    Ice dance:

    Klimova-Ponomarenko: 1996 Pro

    Pairs:

Bechke & Petrov (1995 pro) - one of my most favorite 'Spartacus' programs

    Bazarova-Larianov (2012-2013 GPF)

    Men:

    John Curry:

Christopher Mabee (Skate Canada 2007 SP)- He fell on the 3A but it's a pretty good program (is he still competing?)

This music is so glorious it makes me cry sometimes when I hear it.

There's a section where the orchestra swells to a climax that was used in the movie Ice Age when the squirrel "died" (but not really) and went to acorn heaven lol

It's also the exact moment the Kween hits the spiral in her sp

Thanks for all the other links, I will check them out!

I think his name is spelled Ponomarenko.

Christopher Mabee (Skate Canada 2007 SP)- He fell on the 3A but it's a pretty good program (is he still competing?)
Didn't Mabee quit the eligible ranks in the same year as Buttle?

.........Chris Mabee is skating on a ship like Vaughn Chipeur. Yes Chris quit the same year as Buttle did. Miss them both.

    Yebin Mok, 2003 Nationals.

I think Yuka's version at World Pro is the best one I've seen, followed very closely by MK's SP at Nationals.

Eek, the chains on Ponomarenko is very distracting and not in a good way.

Can't have a Spartacus thread and not mention the wonderful Fumio Igarashi skating at the 1979 Worlds. Great program and performance.

Worth watching also for Frank Carroll being fabulous in the K&C complete with leather gloves. He embodies '70's man here

Charlene Wong skated to it at the 1988 Olympic Winter Games. I always remember Wong for her huge double axels.

Anthony Liu skated it in 1997 for his free program.

I really enjoyed this skate. Thanks for posting the link. I had never heard of Fumio before. I thought he deserved better artistic marks than what he got.

    Charlene Wong - 1987/88 FS (1988 Olympics)

    Lisa Ervin - 1991/92 FS (1992 U.S. Nationals)

    Katie Orscher & Garrett Lucash - 2003/04 LP (2004 4CC)

The opening to Suite No. 2 is the Adagio of Spartacus and Phrygia. Part of it was course used as the opening theme music for the TV Show, The Onedin Line. Sadly, the star of that show, Peter Gilmore, recently passed away
