Well that's good because most internet users don't pay any attention to the drivel coming out of her mouth either. However, I'm not sure she really doesn't pay attention because she seems to feel compelled to make a public spectacle of herself whenever people stop noticing her.

That's pretty stupid for someone who's livelihood depends on what people think of her. As an actress she might be able to ride on the popularity of other stars or characters in her movies, but as someone who is attempting to build a lifestyle empire solely based on who she is, she might want to start paying some attention to what her potential followers and customers think.

about 2 yrs ago she said that she had considered closing her website because she was getting so much hate over it. i'm guessing she reads or previously read enough comments to know people were criticizing it.

Same here. It was ill-fitting, and wrinkled.

I beg to differ. Clearly she has a following, and her book is selling. So they are paying attention. Whether or not they believe the drivel is another story.

She has agents, PR firms, marketing specialists and managers to pay attention to that. And I don't know that anyone in the public eye should waste time reading the horrific nonsense that is said about them on the web particularly on social media, forums and comment sections. For someone like Gwyneth, the people she pays can monitor what needs to be understood for the sake of marketing and her career endeavors.

Disagree - she doesn't need to read it herself, but she does need to "pay attention" to it, as the original statement said she did not. The head of any business should be paying attention to what their various audiences are saying, especially when the company's only brand is that person.

She is likely more the face than the head of business in terms of strategy and marketing. And taking her words that literally is silly. Clearly, as demonstrated by some of her other comments, she has some awareness of public response. That doesn't mean she has to log on and read the yahoo comments herself or google her name to find this FSU thread and take notes. Corporations pay people to monitor responses on social media. I'm sure PR firms, agents and management of celebrities do the same. They don't have to literally, personally "pay attention" to have awareness.

I just keep thinking about what could be done with 450K. Some of it could be donated to cancer foundations, St. Judes childrens hospital, NNFF, donations to help with the homeless, and the rest could help feed the starving children around the world. That's just my thinking, of course. I just know you can't take that kind of money with you when you die, and you certainly can't take all those designer clothes with you when you die.

While I agree that spending $450,000 on a spring wardrobe seems excessive, if people who have that kind of money to spend don't spend it, the store clerks who rely on commissions, the cleaning people who clean up the stores and warehouses, etc etc wouldn't have jobs for very long. People who buy these clothes, and spend that kind of money, may well donate similar amounts or even more to charity. It is not necessarily and either or choice.
A good rant is cathartic. Ranting is what keeps me sane. They always come from a different place. Take the prime minister, for example. Sometimes when I rant about him, I am angry; other times, I am just severely annoyed - it's an important distinction. - Rick Mercer

I'm not saying that's the case with everyone. I know of several celebrities, famous people, etc. that unselfishly donate to charities and even coordinate fundraisers. But there are also people in this world that don't give it a second thought when it comes to helping others.

As I stated, that's just my way of thinking. That's what I would do if I had that 450k.

This is where I am on her side. I don't think less of anyone who works , makes money, and spends it on themselves. Gwyneth and her fellow wealthy peer's spending habits create jobs, which is a better way, IMO, to "spread the wealth" than to give it to those "in need". We really don't know that Gwyneth doesn't help others simply because she's smart enough to not give her money away freely. Some unselfish people donate money for a variety of reasons that aren't as altruistic as they may seem.

I sort of love that "I can't pretend to be someone who makes 25k a year" comment. It's true, and why should she feel bad about having money and spending it? Even though I don't care for her acting skills or questionable beauty, she's obviously a hard worker and focused on how to get what she wants. There are a few things she can teach us.

I don't resent her good fortune. I think she should be able to spend her money however she wants. And she should live in any style she chooses. However, she should engage her brain when she opens her mouth. The statement is condescending. Did you read the link I posted? she is quite good at opening her mouth and having no edit button or common sense.

    Gwyneth Hijacks Literary Event

Appears it's not fun sitting next to GP at a book signing event

Christina Oxenberg, who was there signing copies of her book "Life Is Short," was particularly upset by the A-list appearance and blogged about her experience being Gwyneth's neighbor for the evening.

"Due to the inflexibility of the alphabet I had the questionable good fortune to be seated directly beside Gwyneth Paltrow," she wrote, noting that a line began to form at their table … just not to see her. "The divinity in question arrived with hubby, children, and a couple of massive bodyguards. The worshippers blocked my view of the whole world, abusing my tiny territory upon which to abandon their trash or lean their sorry asses."

From Gwynnie's Twitter: "No ghost writer on my cookbook, I wrote every word myself."

But I bet there were plenty of editors and fact-checkers rearranging the order of those words to make the book readable
