I wonder if the spins take a lot out of her or something. They aren't so brilliant that she HAS to end with a spin. She should try ending with her ch sequence.

I would really like for Mao Asada to skate to Revolutionary Etude by Chopin.

So she can do more marching? Cause everyone just seemed to love the marching in her FS this season

I'm not sure, but I think it was the soundtrack. He posted a couple of videos on his vk, I put them in the Russia thread in GSD, I'll have to go find them again.
Fairly certain Gatchinski is skating to the soundtrack not the ballet. I can understand some Russian and it said so on Russian threads.

Jason's FS was beautiful and lyrical, but he should still get a new one and not recycle - he skated the program perfectly at JW anyways, so once a skater accomplishes that, I feel there is not much to gain from keeping a program another season. Plus Brown is such an engaging showman that I felt Liebestraume was a bit of a waste of that...snoozefest in general, a very pretty and lyrical one, however, did not compare to his Last Airbender program IMO, which I thought was all sorts of voidy and cool . I wanna see Brown bring the voids back next season, it will make him stand out more in seniors I think.

Honestly I just hope we see no one skate to: Turandot, Tosca, Carmen, the overused parts of Swan Lake/Black Swan, Spartacus, and Rhapsody in Blue. Please and thank you.

As far as I'm concerned, the voider the better, I wanna see skaters try new stuff and be edgy!

All I ever ask is for Daisuke Takahashi to go back to Miyamoto. The rest of the lot I don't care.

Just looking again at the ISU guidelines for 2013-2014:
3.1. Rhythms (as announced in ISU Communication 1738)
Rule 609, paragraph 1. a) provides that rhythm(s) and/or theme(s) are selected by the Ice Dance Technical Committee annually for the season. For the season 2013/14, the following Rhythms were selected.

    Senior

    Quickstep
    or
Quickstep plus one or two of the following Rhythms: Foxtrot, Charleston, Swing.

The Pattern Dance Elements must be skated on the Quickstep Rhythm, in the style of Quickstep. The Tempo of the music throughout the Pattern Dance Elements must be constant and in accordance with the required Tempo of the Pattern Dance Finnstep, i.e. 52 measures of two beats or 104 beats per minute, plus or minus 2 beats per minute.
    Online metronomes: http://www.metronomeonline.com/, http://a.bestmetronome.com/
    So lessee

Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQ7z57qrZU8 clocks in at around 100 beats per minute (so it's only slightly off)

TREASURE TROVE!!!!! (Music at 104 BPM)

ETA: Can you believe Macarena is on the list?!?!?!?!

Early music and choreographer suggestions for Olympic programs

    Early music?

I'd love to see someone skate the lights out to Emma Kirkby singing something by Hildegard of Bingen.

    Maybe.
Something like Monteverdi's "Pur te Miro" is not at all impossible; even has the required rhythmic change. Would love to see a Dance team going into that rep. Singing starts at 1:30.

Aside from all the remixes of Handel's Sarabande, are Denkova and Staviski the only ones to really use the actual settings of early music? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdVTzWjLSmI

Just rediscovered the Yoshida Brothers again. (Haven't listened to them in a while.) Would love to have one of the Japanese skaters use some shamisen music!

I think Kostner would totally rock a program to the rites of spring. Despite the masterpieces she's had the past 3 seasons, this could become her signature program. Alternatively I'd love to see her do something with African-drumming beats and theme.

Bolero for another season would work too

I'd love for someone to use the soundtrack from "Tess" by Philippe Sarde. Tuktamysheva maybe?
Nino Rota's soundtrack for "The Taming of the Shrew" could make a great and funny FP for a pair. D/R?
The "Dangerous Liaisons" by George Fenton soundtrack could also make an awesome program for Pairs or Ice Dance.
Another soundtrack nobody has ever used before is Amedeo Minghi's awesome work he did for "Fantaghirò aka The Cave of the Golden Rose". I think the whole soundtrack can be found on youtube. Minghi also did other soundtracks for other fairytale movies which are also pretty awesome.
Some people also forget that pirate-themed programs do NOT have to be to the "Pirates of the Caribbean" soundtrack. In fact, there is a quite unknown mini-series called "Caraibi" or "Pirates: Blood Brothers". The series are not top-notch but the soundtrack is quite cool.

I LOVE Tess of the D'urbervilles! (although I prefer the 2008 BCC version to Roman Polaski's film). Maybe Tessa and Scott should dance to it?

I'd like to see Denis Ten (or, failing that, Jeremy Ten) skate to music from the soundtrack of that Bo Derek movie, "10." Failing that, selections from "Nine" or even "8½" would do. Not "Seven," though.

After listening to Schubert's serenade again, I think this music will be very good for Mao's SP.
