    Thanks for sharing!

Looks like she's putting the Lutz in the short. Hmmmm...I know her edge on Flip and Lutz has been moving more to an outside edge but the jump just isn't as good as her Flip is. Crossing my fingers this choice works okay.

Amazing skate from Akiko in the world championship short program. Easily her best SP ever, glad to see she was rewarded for all her virtues! Sad that this is the last SP we'll likely ever see her perform, but she finished in style.

Best of luck in her final FS tomorrow! Rain or shine, I'm positive there will be lots of tears from her fans and skating fans alike.

I'm so happy for Akiko! She was so lowballed on PCS... In no way does she deserve lower PCS than Lipnitskaia. Hope that she ends up on the podium tomorrow!

Just watched Akiko's SP and it brought me to tears. It was beautiful and she just radiated joy. I am going to miss her so much. I hope she has another wonderful skate in the long.

Couldnt agree more. I will miss Akiko enormously. Besides her gracious, joyful spirit and unique charm, Akiko has had a marvelous variety of superb programs. She is among the greatest figure skating artists I have seen.

That SP was glorious! I'm looking forward to her LP and, I hope, a world medal to close out her competitive skating career. I'll miss her so much!!

I will really miss her. No one skates with the musicality and soul that she carries on to the ice.
DH - and that's just my opinion

So happy she skated from her heart out there. I'll really miss her. But I'm sure I'll enjoy her skating live in many shows in Japan. Hope she'll show us stunning swan song tomorrow!

I'm torn between looking forward to her long and knowing it's the last time I'll get to see her compete. Hope she skates a great long -as a present to herself

She has been my favourite for about 3 years. I love her. She skates with so much joy. Gracie skates last in the free so if Akiko does well it will be a nervous wait. That's if one of the top three does not skate well.
I too thought Akiko was under-scored in the SP.

I'm a bit late but want to translate her retirement announcement on her blog.

    Graduation
    2014-04-04 12:55:26

    After finishing World Championships,
I notified JSF officially of my retirement as of March the 30th.

    http://stat.ameba.jp/user_images/201...2897590912.jpg

As an athlete I was truly happy closing my competitive career at Worlds in my home country.
Although I'm a bit regretful about my performance...
I feel relieved so much right now.

    Coming across figure skating,
    Being supported by many people,
    I cried a lot,
    And smiled a lot.
I've lived with figure skating till now.

    Although I retire from competitions,
I'll continue to live involved in figure skating.

    As a pro-skater,
    I not only skate,
but also I'd love to express in various ways what I've been through.

I'm full of gratitude for your support!
    Please continue supporting me.

"Wish you'll be a skater loved by people,"
Mr. Kubo said as a farewell.

I'll continue to try my best.

    Akiko Suzuki

Oh I will certainly miss her fantastic programs she delivered through the years.. Akiko has been an inspiration to many and she will be sorely missed! Especially because the Japanese ladies seem to be losing strength as a team right about now while the men are picking up steam and are on FIRE!

Akiko skated in Nagoya Figure Skating Festival on April the third. Since she's from Nagoya, she was warmly welcomed by the home crowd. The farewell ceremony happened for Akiko as well as Miki and Nobunari in the end of the show.

Semi autbiography? I guess you mean because she is still young. What a beautiful cover photo. I would love to read that - I hope excerpts are published somewhere eventually. Akiko is just enchanting. I hope she has a long happy pro career that includes visits to the US.
