    Thanks, Jeschke!

    Another Tamara Moskvina interview: http://fsrussia.ru/news/598_tamara-m...zh-partnera--/
    Excerpts via Google Translate:
Yes, we want to make the Olympic Games in Sochi, our programs were special, with appropriate musical accompaniment. Russia is rich in masterpieces of the art of music. We have a lot of composers - Soviet, Russian, whose music is known. But it is important to find one that will be recognized, not only by our countrymen. Music that would be special for the Olympics, and the Olympics all want to look special.

    - Intrigued.

    - There's too early to reveal all the cards. But to me, as a coach, I want to surprise surprising selection of music. We have prepared the music for both programs. Interesting, unexpected and special. Of course, I'm still going to consult with experts, listen to their opinions on this matter.

Putting programs for children will be Peter Tchernyshev, as a choreographer will continue to operate Alexander Matveyev.

    - Are you planning to go back to the Quadruple release [throw], the guys who played before?

    - Yes, in the long program want to go back to the Quadruple release. Why? Last season, we have not performed at the event, but very actively practicing, trying to do the warm-up before the start.

As practice shows, the Olympics will all cook something out of the ordinary. And even today, many say they will focus on stability, cleaner and error-free for the sake of the box office, however, the Olympic Games - a special event in the life of every party, and I'm sure that most will try to get away from the routine programs.

In this situation, Yuko and Sasha, having a quad release, will try to execute it at the start. Of course, this risk. But without risk, we - the sixth in the world this season. Maybe it worth the risk?

    - What else is new has happened in the meantime?

    - Sasha was blond. After a difficult season, he wanted to give up, something has changed, with a new image to step into the new season.

    - Does it related to new programs?

    - It does not matter. Knowing what we plan new programs, we must consider whether it will be up to them. Although nowadays turn from blond to brunette - easy, you need just a couple of hours.
    ...
    - The last question concerns Yuko. It should be noted that the last time a skater added artistry.

    - Yuko was finally able to artistically express feelings, images, interaction with a partner. In English, there is the term "chemistry", which, for figure skating, is the relationship of partners in accordance with the music programs.

After the season I received a letter from the cheerleaders [fans]. I have long received no letters, and then a large, four pages. The woman who wrote it, followed by all appearances Yuko and Sasha, noted stages of growing, improving the pair said that we always come up with new programs, the elements that are looking for, try a different direction. In the end, she noticed that a couple Kawaguchi Smirnov - the last time was different, and now interesting to fans of figure skating is not only sports results, but also an artistic experience that produce the audience. No need to explain how important these words for the coach and athlete.
"Randy [Starkman (1960-April 16, 2012)] lived by the same motto as the rest of us. The Olympics isn’t every four years, it’s every single day. He just got it." --Canadian Olympic kayaker Adam van Koeverden

I opened the link twice, and the first time I did see the "offending" advert - it was cleavage indeed . To be fair, it was more than a bit, and the photo was very, very cleavage centered (even the woman's head was cut off), but still - I've seen much heavier porn in places where it's not even supposed to be. And mostly those are Russian links too.

Perhaps Vagabond considers links to the interviews by Dadygin pornography. I certainly do - Dadygin's sick fantasies he calls interviews are exactly that. The pop up blocker , however, doesnt make those interviews any less xrated...
That is to say please pretty please dont post links to eg.ru articles- they are not about figure skating, it an adults only fanfic with skaters being the main characters

Neither did I! Not that I would need to see a picture of cleavage; one can just look around in the summer and will see plenty of them in real life, not just on the computer screen...

Thanks for the link to the article, Sylvia

    Moskvina mentions Sasha's injury.
Is this the knee surgery from the prior season or something additional?

However, the complexity of the health of Sasha (which had a negative effect) is not allowed to prepare systematically to throughout the season, both programs guys performed without error.

Do not speak at the event we could not. Cancel the season, to do any operation was unreal.

    - During the season, you and Sasha preferred not to talk about the problems with health partner.

    - What for? If you're sitting in the office, and you split the head, you do not stop working? Take a pill and continue to do business with. It's the same with us.

Of course, Sasha's treatment throughout the season detract from the work. Because of this we have not been able to train and prepare and to such extent as planned. At the World Cup's great guys skated the short program, but deficiencies in the training related to, inter alia, with the physical stamina affected in the long program.

We are talking about Yuko Kavaguti. That's the least Carmenish Carmen I can imagine. Passion from Yuko?

I think Moskvina was talking about a soviet and a russian compositor. So it might be Carmen

On a less optimistic note: Simonenko reports (in rsport.ru) Makarova is to miss the next season
He spoke to Rukavitsin on the phone
Rukavitsin: Ksenia decided to skip the next season. The main reason is her injuries which need to heal. One of the injuries - her hip became repeative. We will continue meeting up - either Ksenia will come to St. Petersburg or I will come to the USA. We will talk about it after the season will be over.

Maybe it would be for the best if she managed to move on. Her last two seasons were not great and she has no chance of competing against the coming to age youngsters.

Makarova didn't do neither Europeans nor worlds. Does she need to stay off competitions for one year or two years to switch the counties? I think her last international competition would be one of the GP events. What about the UK? No matter how badly Makarova skated, she is miles better than Jenna McCorkell. Come on, Xenia, find some great grandparent from the UK!

I am glad she's not retiring. Taking a year off is a good idea. She seemed so unhappy last season. I hope she gets healthy and renews her passion for skating, whether in competitions or shows.

I thought next season would be her last season and if she didn't come back maybe she thinks she would have been robbed of her last season!! Sure she cant get to the olympics in Russia now and maybe that will mean she decides not to come back at all but it may seem like lack of proper closure. Who knows what will happen to Liza Adelina Julia and the younger girls. They seem all locked in for the two spots in Sochi but what about worlds 2015?!?

I wrote a new blog entry recapping Makarova's injury/decision and how this will impact the Russian ladies field:

    http://skateguard1.blogspot.ca/2013/...njury-how.html

To clarify before I get blasted, I'm not saying in this piece that Makarova would have been a shoe in for Sochi, but she could have contended for a spot as much as anyone else had. It's not a two pony show right now.

sad news. all the best for ksenia.

i can't help, but i really liked to see ksenia on the ice compared to her russian compatriots. she, biryukova and leonova were grown women compared to all those 'jump-around-girls'.
there were miles between them in TES the last season, but makarova were miles above the others in her components (maybe not in the marks already ) i really would like to see grown women back in the sport mixed with all those youngsters; come on, olympics with butirskaya, volchkova & co. were great too,

hope we'll see her once again on competetive ice, where she blews those youngster with her majesty away

think i never spoke of makarova like that before

I agree that it's not a two person only competition. Where there is no competition for Liza and Adelina. And that the team can be named now. Is it a weak field or a strong field? If only two peoPle are competitive for two spots that is a very weak field. Makarova did not have the hardest triples but was able to qualify for some of her worlds by beating people not just being age eligible.
