Any recent news of Artur Gachinski? I hope having to train with Plushenko doesn't psyche him out.

Yes, he is. Tamara Moskvina also told me that she passed Gerboldt/Enbert on to him. So the coaching change reported earlier took place, but apparently the team did not leave Moskvina but was handed over to Vasiliev to give him a Russian pair to work with now in St. Petersburg. He is still coaching the Italians Della Monica/Guarise and single skater Ivan Bariev, who wants to represent Italy from now on, also said that he is planning to train under Vasiliev.

    I'll help out Sylvia. ;-)
Nothing really important in this interview.
    Keypoints:
    - Averbukh thinks the Russian skaters have an advantage on home ice as they can train there more often and have more time to adapt
    - he thinks that Volosozhar/Trankov are the big favorites in the pairs event and if they skate clean will win to 99 percent, but he cautiones that they have been skating together just for one Olympic cycle and therefore a prone to errors
    - as for the girls, he says that Russia now has a lot of strong young girls (Sotnikova, Tuktamysheva, Radionova, Lipnitskaia) but that also Leonova could come back. He singles out Sotnikova
    - as for the men he is asked who should be sent (Plushenko, Menshov or Kovtun) and answers that whoever has the best results in the competitions before the Games should be selected
    - as for the ice dancers, he believes that the best they can hope for is bronze as Virtue/Moir and Davis/White will fight for gold and silver

So all in all, nothing new or spectacular in there.

Thanks Eislauffan for the translation. However, that is the most boring interview by a russia FSer that I have ever read.

Yes, Ilia is very conservative in his assessment. :-)

As for Ivan Bariev, yes, he announced a while ago that he left Nikolai Morozov. http://www.ivanbariev.com/Englisch/pages/news.html

Pushkash/Guerreiro spend their summer in Detroit with Anjelika Krylova and Pasquale Camerlengo. But I don't know if they'll stay there permanently (it is certainly possible).
