Didn't Amanda Evora often do a spiral position while standing on Mark Ladwig's shoulder? In exhibitions. Or maybe it was another skater, but I know I've seen it.

(But he holds her. I can't imagine it would be allowable like in the video without the man supporting the lady. I think in dance it would violate overhead lift rules, though if he held ankles cheerleader style, the arms aren't extended. )

I haven't seen anything similar to what Georgia and Eric were doing. But some of those overhead moves are scary and I'm glad there are some rules to prevent those.

    They did goose
Blade on shoulders did pair skaters. For example

    Besedin-Polischuck often did this

That swan exhibition sure was something! Notice pads were integrated into the costume.

    The Swan Ex was wild!

I would love to see Charlie and Meryl do something like Kavguti and Smirnov, but I don't think she's tiny enough compared to Charlie. Yuko's size is paramount in that lift working. *Sigh* I really wish they would lift a lot of these lift rules. There was an article about how arbitrary some of them are, especially in pairs. You have very dangerous lifts that are allowed and some not so dangerous ones that aren't just because.

There will always be people who push the edge, but for the most part I don't think skaters are down for dying for the sake of their sport. Self preservation will prevail in seniors. Keep most of the safety rules for juniors who don't have a healthy sense of mortality.

Perhaps it's less about what is in the rules than about what is not there. The rule is not specific enough, and that gives technical specialists room to interpret it in different ways.

You're probably right, which just makes one more thing in figure skating fans can't understand or follow. Yay.

Probably as tiny as Meryl. I bet you Meryl is wearing at least 3 inch heels.

Random question; I know Charlie's middle name is Allen, but do we know what Meryl's is? Does she even have one?

Meryl's photo account is meryledavis, so I suppose it must start with an E.

I want to say it's Elizabeth. Feel like I've heard that somewhere but not sure where!

That performance holds a very special place in my heart because it was the first time I ever saw them skate!

    That's so wonderful!

I've always loved that costume of Meryl's. What a great performance.
