HD vids of Lillehammer Olympics - Must See

What a treat to stumble on these today…
Different camera angles, minimal commentary and awesome clarity.
Nancy's polish is even more evident. Baiuls landings even more of an outrage, though her charm really comes through in the HD.

I can't get past Tonya's clapping for Nancy and saying, "Go, Nancy!"

    What a treat.

We've all been watching the same feed for years (decades) now and it's nice to see new camera angles.

I actually found Nancy lovely to watch. The polish was evident, as were the textbook jumps. The "aerobics" didn't seem to be too bad, her enthusiasm unforced, and there were parts where she created some lovely shapes. The aerial view of her spiral was impressive. What coverage.

Oksana's botched flip and spin are even more apparent, but she sold the hell out of the program.

    Awkward...

I can't find it. Where is the botched spin?

Yes, I found this some time ago. And I agree, the quality of those videos is great. And now some of the programmes from Albertville are also uploaded.

    Thanks for linking to these.

There's some from the 1992 Olympics now as well, including K&P's Olympics FD in HD and from angles I've never seen before! What a treat!

edit: the Japanese footage of the Tonya lace incident from 94 is great as well, especially the audio feed that picks up Tonya trying to fix her lace. "I'm last in this group. Get out of the way!"

Wow, the quality is incredible. It makes sense that the Japanese televisions had HD footage back then, since their technology was so advanced with companies like SONY. It's a little disorienting to see... it makes these long ago Olympics seem to have taken place yesterday.

That one I know. But I was thinking about those new videos posted by Mintaka Alnilam. Look at the first post. This thread is about new videos of great quality.

Could some kind soul please point out the time of the botched spin in Baiul's short program? This is the first I've heard of it and can't find it for the life of me. Thanks!

It comes after her flying camel in the free skate.

She tries to do a layback but fails to even hit the position.

In reality, it wasn't even an upright that counted -- I think spins had to have six revolutions back then.

Another case for Kerrigan getting the edge.
