Watching CNN and my heart is breaking for the family of this poor man, the man was sleeping in his bed when a sinkhole opened under the house collapsing the bedroom floor. Right now the area is considered too unstable to attempt any rescue.

They said on the evening news he was maybe 100 feet down. His BIL tried to get him out, but tragically couldn't find him.
I can't even process the unfairness of this.

I saw this on CNN but I had no idea what a sinkhole is or how it is formed, so I looked up wikipedia:

I am still wondering how this happened so suddenly, and if there were any indicators earlier- whether the area was susceptible to the formation of sinkholes.
How frightening for this poor man and his family though! Such a terrible way to die! I read that 5 adults and a 2 year old escaped.
This sounds like something out of a horror film. How awful.
