Ack, bummer about C/S. I always enjoy watching them. Will be there Saturday night in case anyone else is at the show. Looking forward to it, as usual .

One of the best Ice Chips productions I've seen to date! The Shibutanis and Marigold Ice Unity were fabulous. We also have a stellar roster of SCOB elites this year, and the show features them in various ensemble numbers as well as their solo exhibition programs. The set designs, lighting, and costumes were superb.

So true! I went this afternoon and really loved the show. I have been to most of the shows since 2002 and this was the best, much higher level of production and choreography. The opening number with the top Boston skaters (Gao, Siraj, Miner etc) was really lovely. They skated a mideastern type mix.
Also lots of Synchro teams and the Finnish team was wonderful. Also just seemed like a lot more solos, lots more skaters than years past.
Donlan and Speroff - I really like him, he seems more mature than his partner, which I have not noticed before when I have seen them.
I was wondering - do each of the skaters have to pay for their outfits. Even the some of little ones have 2 or more outfits. They were all really nice.
There was one little girl, couldn't be more than 3 or 4 - was too darn cute, in her first number didn't really skate, just looking around, but in the second number was doing pretty well. I love the little ones and their enthusiasm.
I have really enjoyed over the years seeing Ross Miner mature into a really nice show skater. I had the sense he was the leader out there during the group numbers (jmho).
If anyone can go Sunday - I say go!

Extremely bummed about missing the shows! Ack! Lady, I am publicly mad at you for not mentioning your plans even once. (((

I was in Harvard Sq with a friend yesterday late afternoon and saw Anastasia, Colin, Isabella & Michael passing by, but for some reason thought they were all just in town because they're training at SCoB. No idea why I thought that.
    Bad skating fan I am.

Oy, I am publicly upset since my weekend plans always involve skating in some capacity -either spectating or stumbling around on my own . Show was very good this year and I agree with everyone who already mentioned the improved lighting, projections and overall production values being top notch.

Several other things I wanted to add
-Bright Arena was packed for Sunday's show, more so than for some EWC shows. Not sure if Saturday's shows were the same, but it was very nice to see.
-The amount of skaters on the ice for Regional & Sectional competitors group numbers was both and -worthy. SCOB's competitive program has been taking off the past few years.
-I missed Stephen Carriere and Canuscio/McManus since my camera battery was about to die. Stephen was very on & landing triple jumps like they were nothing. C/M also have very nice flow & ice coverage.

Saturday afternoon show was maybe 65-75% full.
When I called on Thursday, since I missed the online purchase deadline, the person I spoke with said that Sunday was spotty, but lots of tixs for both shows on Sat were available.

Thanks! Sounds like all 3 shows were well attended, but I wasn't sure they were all sold out (or very close to it) like Sunday's was. Definitely the best production since I've been in Boston.

"The Inside Edge" blog today is mostly about the show and backstage tidbits: http://web.icenetwork.com/news/artic...&vkey=ice_news

    Photo gallery: http://web.icenetwork.com/photos/gal...nt_id=45477052

    ETA this excerpt:
Maia Shibutani had a chance encounter the day before the show with renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma.

"I was walking in Harvard Square, and I recognized him on the street!" Maia said. "He was so nice, he took a picture with me."

"I wasn't there," Alex said. "I wouldn't have believed it if she had told me, but she got a picture, so there's proof right there."
Maia tweeted this photo proof of her meeting Yo Yo Ma on April 12:
    "Can't believe I met Yo-Yo Ma today!!!!! ... !!!!!" http://instagram.com/p/YBQjRQy7r9/
