    Russian National Teams 2013/2014

    I thought it would be convenient to have a separate news thread, like last year, for easier reference (and searching) in the future. Thanks to quiqie for posting the link and typing out the full names of the Senior team in the Russian news thread yesterday. I've added the full names of the Junior and other teams with birth dates (European style of day/month/year) for the singles skaters below.

    Via Google Translate:
    National teams of Russia figure skating for the season 2013/2014 period.

    In the national team of Russia were not included skaters showed high sports results at competitions of the season 2012/13 and fulfilled the criteria for the formation of the official teams of Russia, established by the Ministry of Sports. Among them:

    Valentine Chernishova (7th Championship of Russia);
    Alsou Kayumova (5th Russian Cup Final);
    Feodosiy Efremenkov (4th Cup of Russia);
    Zhan Bush (5th Russian Cup Final);
    Alla Loboda - Pavel Drozda (5th Russian Cup Final).

    Also with the Championship of Russia in the older age groups (1-6 places, according to the criteria of the Ministry of Sports of Russia) included only winners and holders of 1-4 seats in pair skating and ice dancing, respectively.

    In addition, the squad does not include winners of the Championship of Russia on young children in the younger age group that practiced in previous years.

    Figure skater of the Samara region Pervushkina Diana was the only one included in the squad due only performance at the Games of Russian students, which, by virtue of the rules, can not be a large number of strong competitors.

    In team sports couple got Katarina Gerboldt - Alexander Enbert not compete(?) at the event in the 2012/13 season.

    So this means Tarasova/Morozov and Stepanova/Bukin are going seniors.

    My guess for COR host picks: Gachinski, Gosviani, Antipova&Maisuradze, Monko&Khaliavin.

    Not necessarily. Sotnikova and Tuktamysheva are on senior Russian team since the season 2009-2010 and at that time they were not age eligible for a senior GP, Europeans or worlds. It seems that their allocation of skaters to senior team, junior team, reserve etc is something to do about how the Federation sees their results rather than whether the skaters are going to compete for seniors or juniors.

    I noticed. But although I agree that her last season was a complete disaster, if Agafonova, Shershak and Makarova made it to reserve, I really can't see why Biryukova did not make it. For example, Agafonova did not even qualify for seniors nationals! Shershak was 7th at JGP and did not compete since then...

    I am wondering why Davankova-Deputat did not make it into junior team. They were nor as great as the last season, but they stikll did have better results than Maria Vigalova / Egor Zakroev, Kamilla Gainetdinova / Ivan Bich, Valeria Grechukhina / Andrei Filonov, Anastasia Gubanova / Alexei Sintsov, and Arina Chernyavskaya / Antonio Souza-Cordeiro who made it into junior team. Why is Davankova-Deputat in reserve? Did Deputat aged out from juniors?

    Pogorilaya is on the junior team so I guess this means she does JGP for another season? Or is this unrelated? It does seem weird that Agafonova and Shershak made the reserve team but Biryukova did not...perhaps it has something to do with competing in Russian Cup competitions? Also Gosviani is on the main team so hopefully she will get a GP assignment or two this coming season.
