Oh Sadness! Couldn't she just come and grace the ice...........maybe announce people or something. She is so gorgeous.

DH - and that's just my opinion
Hope she heals well and fast for the Olympic season. What a pity. I love watching her skate. She will be misssed at Worlds.

Such a shame![]()
I hope she recovers completely for the Olympics.
Somewhere over the Rainbow
Very sad...although Tuurkila and Mikkonsari are also gorgeous & mighty-fine skaters.
Ashley Wagner - America's Champion and PRIDE. How sweet it is!
Adding my condolences as well. Achilles tendon injuries tend to be hard to recovery from, unless one is Hongbo Zhao...
But here's hoping to see the most beautiful skater ever to grace the ice return next year with fire in her belly and fairy dust in her skates.![]()
Such awful timing for Kiira. All my best to her for a full recovery in time for the Olympics.
Phil Hersh thinks it's 'improved' US chances for a third spot. He didn't even have the class to at least say to Kiira how sorry he was for her injury-instead he just tweeted this to her:

Philip Hersh @olyphil
US chances for a third woman figure skater at '14 Oly just improved with the withdrawal from worlds of Finland's @kiirakorpi_fi
Hersh can be a real jerk.

I'll take responsibility that Hersh's tweet included Korpi's Twitter handle/name because I suspect he saw my tweet about her withdrawal this morning and hit reply. I'm not surprised by what he tweeted though...
"Randy [Starkman (1960-April 16, 2012)] lived by the same motto as the rest of us. The Olympics isn’t every four years, it’s every single day. He just got it." --Canadian Olympic kayaker Adam van Koeverden
Sad news. Korpi's programs, especially the short, are a highlight of Worlds.
Very nice, Phil...
It's understandable though. I mean, let's be honest, the most important thing about any worlds is the number of spots the US women achieve. Everything, and everyone else, is secondary.
What an A$$. Despite one should not wish bad, but in this case I really hope the next time this guy gets sick, he gets similar treatment after making such a tasteless comment.
Sorry for Kiira. I think it might be a good idea for her to skip next year's GP and return in full force to competition only at Euros. Looks like skating the full GP after having a season where she was already hampered by injuries didn't help her to recuperate. And achilles tendon injuries need time to heal.![]()
