I'm not sure that it is as much a matter of pain -- if you continue to aggravate it, the tendon can rupture, turning it into a much bigger issue.

(She has my sympathy. It is an incredibly hard injury to really get past. Took me a good three years, and even so I get twinges which cause me to back right off.)

Oh, that's so sad . She performed at 'Art on Ice' in Helsinki recently, so I thought that perhaps she'll be fine enough by Worlds. And I was really looking forward to seeing her in the mix with other top ladies at Worlds. But it's so much sadder for her than for any of us.

That's correct. The pain returned as soon as she tried to go back to normal training instead of cut back hours (exactly the way it was with Lepistö).

That's true but performing a show number with two double axels is far from doing two competitive programs back to back and especially the free skate, of course. I think most skaters can pull off a show number without hardly any serious training but for competitive programs the shape you have to be in is completely different.

    Kiira will be missed.
I hope that she will be able to recover in time for her to participate in the Olympics.

I understand that. I just thought - it means that she can skate at least. On a side note - it depends on what type of a show number it is. If they are like Lambiel, Browning or Arakawa tend to do, then - no - they can't be pulled off without "hardly any serious training", because they often have quite demanding choreography/steps and/or jumps. I know for sure that both Lambiel and Arakawa do train quite a lot (although not as intensely as for competition), and most likely Browning does too, even despite (or, on the contrary, because of) his age.

They should reform the rules. It would be hard to devise an acceptable alternative but worth doing if it could be achieved. Turkilla is not going to be the person they will reform anything for, but one day the current system will need some alternate route for Olympic qualification besides the prior Worlds. I think the current system is the most universally acceptable method, but there are those occasions when some countries seem to deserve two Olympic spots but have only one.
