Performances That Received a Standing Ovation Long Before they End
Torville & Dean Worlds 1984
Everyone knew it was their last set of amateur performances and went wild.
Unfotunately, the TV broadcaster blocked out some of the applause during the program. But the audience just wouldn't let them go after the FD.

The crowd stood for Kwan BEFORE she skated her Fields of Gold program at SLC Olympics. It wasn't for the performance obviously, but the performance justifies the SO anyway.

I think Shen & Zhao's LP at the 2003-2004 GPF got a standing ovation before they finished. Ditto with Mishkuteniok (sp?) & Dmitriev at the 91 Worlds (maybe 92 Olympics and Worlds as well but I could be wrong).
Evan Lysacek, 2009 World Championship Free Skate:
Some of those are epic and gave me goosebumps but too bad there are several that you couldn't see the audience's reaction at all towards the end
From what i saw "live"
Takahashi LP in Torina 2010 WCh
Hanyu LP in Nice 2012 WCh
Carolina Kostner LP WCH Nice 2012
From TV- Pang-Tong LP at 2010 OG.
Virtue-Moir 2010 OG OD and FD
Midori Ito - 1988 Olympics LP
Here it is - Peter, Peggy and Terry, of ABC, talked about it:

I had forgotten how good that OD was, thanks.

Couldn't see the audience reaction early, but this is just magnificent:
One of the most touching moments I've witnessed was when Ben Ferreira took to the ice for his LP at 2006 nationals in Ottawa. As he skated around waiting for the previous skater's marks, the crowd started standing slowly at first and then increasingly until the entire rink was on its feet applauding - I think even the media in their booth, maybe even the judges.
Without any fanfare, fans knew that it would be his last performance, and it was a lovely way to honour him and thank him for the many years he represented Canada.
I love these threads. Thanks for all the links. What a joy to watch!
OMG! Who would have ever thought when they started that they EVER would skate like that!

Reason: add after watching S/Z
DH - and that's just my opinion

Hoping to experience a moment like this in less than 3 weeks!
