ICE STYLE.....2014 U.S. Prudential Figure Skating Championships Costumes Recap Part Four: The MEN & ICE DANCE Free Skate/Free Dance Costumes

    http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4VTh6vGy1B.../MaxAaron2.jpg

Max Aaron, Free Skate: Max skated his FS to Music from Carmen performed by Rodion Shchedrin and the Boston Pops Orchestra. I LOVE this sleek, modern costume. I especially like the use of solid with sheer panels (see above pic). It's one of my favorite male figure skating costumes for being so chic, sleek and modern--and for not using any overt "Carmen"-like toreador details...or a red rose!

    http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-exBRFo235O...0/MaxAaron.jpg

Bye Bye Curls: Just one sad note--that he cut his hair! I LOVED it all long and curly in the front in above pic.
I miss the curls, too! BRING BACK THE CURLS, MAX!!

Best costumes, men/Runners-up: Adam Rippon's free skate costume by Jan Longmire, and Max Aaron, whose modern, masculine styling showed off his powerful physique. It was hard to pick a winner in this category, actually, because there were so many good costumes. The men must have gotten our memo from last year. Well done, boys.

Oh please please please please don't bring back those horrible long curls. His hair at last year's Nationals was the best.

Disagree. The hair can ruin it.

Harvard's Lyndsey Fry heading to Sochi with special motivation

    Sarah Higgins | NCAA.com
    Last Updated - Jan 16, 2014 13:52 EST

Fry, a Chandler, Ariz. native, decided to withdraw from Harvard for the academic year to focus on playing with Team USA and, in the process, became the first from her home state to make a U.S. Olympic hockey team.

But Fry hopes she’s not the only Arizona native marching in the opening ceremony.

National champion figure skater Max Aaron, competing for a spot on Team USA this weekend at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Boston, hopes to be joining his friend.

Aaron, an Arizona State junior from Scottsdale, played elite hockey for years before breaking his back and making the transition to figure skating. But before his hockey days were over, he played against none other than Fry, who competed in boys’ club hockey leagues until her freshman year of high school.

I was watching the exhib. the other day and Max was skating. His artistry or lack of reminded me of Elvis Stoyjko. I like Max but would like to see his artistry improve. I am sure I spelled Elvis' last name wrong.

Max is an athletic, power and speed skater. This year he has worked very hard on improving his artistry and presentation. He's taken ballroom dance classes, and worked with top choreographers. I noticed big improvements over last year, and I fully expect that Max will continue to grow in that area of his skating.

    Just "Stojko"...no "y".
