Sometimes Max wants it so badly that he actually tries too hard...enters jumps too fast...forces the rotations rather than just letting them flow. But when things aren't going well the hardest thing to do is relax, breathe, and let your body do what it's trained to do...one tends to begin to skate with the brain rather than the body.
I think he needs to go back to the style of choreography he had with TRON and WSS; if he took that style and added his new sense of artistry and presentation/performance he'd have the makings of his own unique style.
I think it was great for Max to try a new style, but unwise to try it in an Olympic year. I hope he can use his advancement in artistry to add to his own style, and not try to be someone else. Tron and WSS really suited him. I thought his Carmen was decent, but really did not like the short program.
Someone also needs to tell him that with a long torso and short legs, he needs to wear high waisted pants, and not the drop waists like the white/black costume. Although the all black body suits do look great on him.
I really want Max to come out next year and skate like MAX. Not being pressured into trying to skate like Jeremy or Jason. Just being himself on the ice. That would be wonderful.
AND FOR THE LOVE OF PLUSHENCHRIST MAX DO NOT GO TO LORI NICHOL AGAIN.
skittl, that's funny, because I LOVED the SP and hated Carmen.

Max Aaron did not have the skate he was looking for. Though he stayed on his feet, completing two quad salchows and two triple axels, he either stepped out of the landings or put his hand down.
“I’m frustrated,” Max said in a U.S. Figure Skating statement, “I came out here and gave it my best. I trained hard for this but obviously it didn’t go the way I trained it. It’s reality. I have to go back and see what I can do for next season. Hopefully by the next time this opportunity comes around, I’ll be ready and I won’t be wishy-washy like I was today.”
Though Max was frustrated with his performance, his eighth place finish, along with Jeremy’s fifth place finish was enough to give the U.S. men three spots in next year’s world championships, which is a huge accomplishment.

I'm sorry if this is incredibly off topic or has been discussed already but..is he still dating Gracie?
Despite his not-so-good performance at Worlds, I'm coming around to Max and his skating. He's quite good looking too, which doesn't hurt.
Welcome to the light side of the force
