CNN ~ Embattled country star Mindy McCready dead at 37

She leaves behind two little boys, one only ten months old, whose father also committed suicide last month.

Considering we in Canada just marked Bell Let's Talk Day to not only promote Mental Illness, but also to attempt and do away w/the stigma of having any kind of Mental Illness, to read in the article Mindy was terrified of what would happen to her career if she came forward w/her battles w/Depression...

Just so beyond sad on so very many levels. My condolences to her Family and friends and my heart just aches for her sons.

That is sad but I can't say no one saw it coming. I wish she could have gotten the help she so clearly needed. Sometimes it just isn't enough, so perhaps she and others tried to get her help.

That was my first thought, Louis. Thank goodness the children were not in her custody because she very well may have killed them as well. I know that is a big assumption but if she killed her dog then she very well could have killed anyone and anything else living in the house. She obviously was not mentally well.

Since she had been on Dr. Drew's Celebrity Rehab show, and had a lot of other well-publicized problems and run-ins with the law, it wasn't much of a secret that she was struggling with depression (and a lot of other things too). I'm kind of puzzled by this statement, because going on a celebrity rehab TV show isn't exactly concealing your problems from the world.

If I'm reading things correctly, her boyfriend was apparently found dead, due to a gunshot wound, at the same house (which they shared) a few weeks ago. It was initially ruled a suicide but authorities weren't ruling anything out, and she denied killing him.

At least the kids are apparently safe.

Mindy's situation reminds me of Amy Winehouse. Sadly, it was always a question of when and not if. I hope she has found peace and wish the best for her children.

She seemed unprepared to cope with anything that happened in her life.
