Bumping up this thread now - the 5 qualified countries plus Japan should be announced after all the events are concluded at Worlds.
"Randy [Starkman (1960-April 16, 2012)] lived by the same motto as the rest of us. The Olympics isn’t every four years, it’s every single day. He just got it." --Canadian Olympic kayaker Adam van Koeverden
It said in an IN article that Menshov and Voronov were going for Russia. So at least we get to see how Menshov does after not getting to compete at Euros or Worlds, and if Voronov can redeem himself from that messy Euros showing.
I'm more interested in who the US sends. Hope it's Dornbush and Farris, but it's probably gonna be Abbott and Aaron (or Rippon if they want to try and get him GPs).
So do we know which 6 countries will be competing?!?![]()

It didn't work like this, world standings points has nothing to do with the WTT format unfortunately.According to the rules, you have to take the best 2 results of 2 different single skaters men,of 2 different single skaters ladies,of one pair and one dance couple at each of the 2 groups of event( the GPs and the Championships).
Ridiculous. How does Japan qualify without a pair team. It reminds me of the 1996 Gold Championships when Ekaterina Gordeeva replaced an ill Oksana Bauil in the ladies' event. Admittedly Gordeeva became a singles skater by default, but she was never a ladies' singles Olympic Champion.
Japan qualifies because they are the host. They won't get an automatic team bid at the Olympics. (Does Russia?)
I calculated it myself and got the exact same numbers as whispering
I'm looking forward to seeing Zijun Li's LP again and am curious to see who Canada will send as their second lady (although I believe technically they're supposed to send Lacoste since she contributed points).
Whee China! Excited we get to see Zijun Li and Han Yan again! Also does Sui/Han's bomb mean that we might get to see Yu/Jin at the Olympics?? I hope so, Yu/Jin are fab even despite the problems at Jr. World, Sui still seems hurt anyway...
Also aren't Takahashi/Kihara now a pair for Japan?
I wonder when the teams will be announced. I hope Kozuka skates for Japan- I'd like to see him again this year.
Entries are due on March 25th
Does anyone know if it's possible to buy tickets for the WTT outside of Japan?
Can't find any info but am planning to go!!
