Wishing Tessa a speedy recovery. Nothing like a true fair fight for the top spot, which can't happen when one team is at a disadvantage.

...added Moir when asked about what went through their mind.
Looks like reporters have caught on to Tessa and Scott's own mentions of sharing a single "mind" or "head" haha.

Some pages before we talked about Tessa and My Little Ponies ( ) and even didn't know WHAT is going to happen.
Can we just remember all the beautiful and funny moments what we have had with them and send them supportive vibrations?
Tessa just send us her beautiful smile to say:"Life is going to continue!"

Sending 100 of hugs to you all.
what a warm, lovely post, CatherineC. made me smile. I am so glad you joined this thread

That made perfect sense to me, Shayii. You so beautifully articulated what I felt when watching this performance. Thank you.

And clarie, I agree, what a comeback. This makes me confident that they can go into worlds and really enjoy it. That is what I wish for them more than anything.

and thank you to Fort, marikat, julianne, and everyone else who provided links.

Hehe - I don't want to be hateful, but I can't help but notice that we're 10 threads ahead of the Davis and White ubers.

Maybe we should leave all that behind in the old thread and keep the road home all about V&M.
    I’m coming home
    I’m coming home
Tell the World I’m coming home
Let the rain wash away all the pain of yesterday
And in the spirit of Diddy maybe the next thread, if the timing is right, should be titled "Back where I belong, yeah I never felt so strong"

I finally had the chance to watch their FD without having my mind blown by the stop, and I think it was a really superb performance. They're skating closer together than before, their lines match better, the speed is improved, the characterization is better.... it's just too bad they had that injury. Now if they focus on those step sequences and take care of their health, they can have a great performance at Worlds.

Exactly! It was going so well until the spin ended. Maybe that's where she started cramping?

just a thought--and not sure if it has been brought up before--but would it be a possibility that the judges have not been scoring Carmen as high as we thought they should to send a message to teams not to do that kind of FD for the olympics? FDs with overtly sexual tones/tension? that the OIC would like the figureskating programs would be as GP as possible? not saying that Carmen is porno as some of the haters would describe it, but in an olympic year when you have more people than usual watching the games, people that are largely uninitiated to FS including impressionable kids, that kind of program might be a little too overwhelming to explain to the public with.

I wouldn't put it past them, but I naively hope that we're at an age where people can feel free to put out the programs that they want. I think there's more talk about Carmen being sexual than it actually being sexual.
I sometimes feel as though we're significantly regressing in 2013!

I just watched the medal ceremony and it was so sad, Tessa looked like she was barely keeping it together. And they couldn't wait to get off the ice. I was going to say I hoped they never did 4CC again, then I realized this was probably their last one anyways. Sigh…((((Tessa))))

    I agree.

It also keeps occuring to me how many new fans have began following icedance beginning with the Vancouver Olympic season.

Carmen is not the first program that show a little sexiness and sensuality. If some of those people think that Carmen is "porn" then it's a good thing they haven't seen some of the past programs.

Even a program like B&S's "First Kiss" SP for the 01/02 season began with them very close to one another, lips practically touching. And don't let those people see the lifts with the male partners arm between his partners legs as he supports her with hand resting on her stomach in a rotational lift. The ultimate would be A&P's "Man in the Iron Mask" FD. Gwendal actually lifts Marina by the crotch, not just her upper thigh.

    Scandalous I tell you!

I'm very happy to read that V&M aren't down and out and have quickly regrouped and plan on taking care of Tessa in preparation for Worlds. I'm also happy to read how well they skated for their exhibtion performance.

ziliam, I've been thinking as well about the judges not wanting another FD like Carmen. However, I wasn't thinking that it was because it was too sexy but rather this quad the judges don't seem to appreciate (well not fully) the type of program Carmen is. The perfect mix of artistry/creativity with crazy difficult elements and connecting moves.

I am very glad that V&M has given us Carmen (it will be one of the all time great icedance programs) but I do see team V&M presenting a different type of program next season. I think the idea to use Romeo and Juliet is a good one. Following with the type of music D&W choose that the crowds and judges more importantly have responded to, Romeo and Juliet would be perfect. Or perhaps something similar in feel without being another couple in love piece. V&M keep getting slammed for always doing the being in love thing (which is not true) and they have wanted to show they can skate to many different rhythms so I wonder if they might go that route.

It's really too bad that in icedance, reusing programs (even re-worked versions) is a no no. Hip-Hip, Chin Chin would be a great program to get the crowds going with the expression and technicall difficulty. Even though it was skated just once all the way through it was getting positive comment.

Perhaps Tessa and Scott should return to something more dancey? Not a folk dance though. Or maybe a Blues or Jazz piece? I don't know, it seems the music has to be just right to begin with even before the choreography is created. Not many seem to appreciate sophisticated and/or subtle. Sorry about the brainstorming. LOL

I wouldn’t go this far… for the simple reason that, if you notice, kids are not the naif angelic creatures that adults want to picture to themselves ((: from my blurry childhood memories and experience with kids, I can say that sex is already a subject matter of their conversations, obviously when adult ears are not around ((: there is a lot of naughtiness in the tone of these – often funny – conversations. This shouldn’t shock because even at such tender age they grasp instinctively what "the mistery of their birth" is all about (and let’s not forget the notorious Aedipus complex toward the mother). after all, the complete awakening of sexual impulses happen quite soon in life. So it’s not that they talk about it because they’re exposed to the "evil television" or movies. Certain scenes seen on the screen are not that traumatic, they mostly make them (mischievously) laugh. The same goes with death, or even violence. It’s something they can understand because, being very sensitive to the surrounding world, they are much more aware of the miseries of life than adults think. Disney created only happy-ending cartoon movies, but it’s wrong, because kids are well aware of things like failure or death. Kids, if I may say, should be much, much more protected from real life miseries, which come from their parents’ unsensitive behaviour, and/or discrimination in schools, etc etc. Yes, we tend to accuse movies or TV of showing inappropriate things, without seeing that the real tragedies happen in everyday life, and those are the real sources of traumas .

Back on topic. Generally speaking, I think most judges are more focused on scoring the technical elements (including transitions, whether they are "creative" or not) rather than expressing their personal tastes through marks. Judges are different at every competition, so I doubt they all think the same about a certain program. Sometimes, the reason why skaters are under-marked is much less romantic than that ((:

I am mourning the loss of the facebook group at a time like this... I did not look often, but during a big event those girls had a crazy knack for finding obscure pictures and references. Anyone find anything good on "tumblr" or "instagram" or all those other sites I am too old to understand!
