Without the last sentence, I would have been really shocked by this post.

Clearly Slutskaya or Kwan. Didnt the decade start in 2000 and end in 2009 unless I am confused about something. Slutskaya has 2 World titles, 2 Olympic medals, 4 GPF finals in the decade, and Kwan has 3 World titles and 1 Olympic medal. How does Kim who has only 1 World title and 0 Olympic medals this decade lead this poll.

Kim winning this poll is so stupid. These are what each skater achieved in the decade of 2000s:

-Kwan 3 World titles, 5 World medals, 1 Olympic medal, 0 Champions Finals
-Kim 1 World title, 3 World medals, 0 Olympic medal, 3 Champions Finals
-Slutskaya 2 World titles, 4 World medals, 2 Olympic medals, 4 Champions Finals
-Asada 1 World title, 2 World medals, 0 Olympic medals, 2 Champions Finals

Slutskaya should be clearly the winner of this poll, yet is third. Kim should be 4th behind Slutskaya, Kwan, and Asada, maybe even behind Cohen and Arakawa, yet is 1st. Makes no sense.

It seems the confusion is the poster stated the 2010 Olympics and worlds should be included in the 2000's, although in reality they are part of the 2010s decade (current decade). If you include the 2000s (Jan 00-Dec 09) then yes Slutskaya and Kwan are virtually neck and neck.

    Sarah Hughes and Miki Ando!

Why would you leave out Sarah Hughes and Miki Ando!?

They can both make a strong case for the top spot.
They are both way more successful than Cohen!

I am not her biggest fan but I am surprised Slutskaya isnt doing better on a poll of the 2000s decade. She was the most consistent and probably most accomplished skater of the decade. Even if you give Kwan the 2000 World title in the decade Slutskaya has 2 World titles and 2 Olympic medals which is atleast the value of Kwan's 3 World titles and Olympic bronze, and Slutskaya competed and won many more of the smaller events on the circuit this decade too. Kim is more of a 2010s skater than 2000s, she didnt start dominating until 2009, the last year of the decade. Before that her best Worlds was a bronze.

Why does Sasha have more votes than Shizuka too. Shizuka is a World and Olympic winner and Sasha isnt and Sasha didnt contribute anything special to the sport the way people like Ito, Lynn, and other non winning or non dominant skaters did. Shizuka's 2004 World title performance was better than anything Sasha ever produced, and she was a better competitor since she had many more clean performances in her career than Sasha did.

Sasha could have been skater of the decade with all the chances she had from 2004-2006 but she blew it.

People must just be voting for their favorite since results dont go in line with these results. Results from best to worst:

    1. Slutskaya- 2 World titles, 2 Olympic medals, 4 Grand Prix final titles

    2. Kwan- 3 World titles, 1 Olympic medal, 0 Grand Prix final titles

    3. Asada and Kim- 1 World title, other World medals, 2 Grand Prix final titles each, no Olympic appearance.

    5. Arakawa and Cohen- Cohen lots of non gold medals. Shizuka World and Olympic gold with a bunch of really awful results otherwise.

So the order should be Slutskaya best, Kwan second best, Kim third best not Kim best, Kwan second best, Slutskaya third best. Such biased and awful votes. People on this forum just really hate Slutskaya and love overrated Yu Na Kim I guess.

1 Kim- 5 combined World titles 2007, 2008, 2010 Grand Prix final, 2009 Worlds, and 2010 Olympics. 2010 winter counts for both 2000s and 2010s decades.

    2. Arakawa- Only skater to win all of Worlds, Grand Prix final, and Olympics in decade besides Kim.

    3. Slutskaya- 6 combined Worlds titles in decade 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005 Grand Prix finals, 2002 and 2005 Worlds. Not higher since didnt get Olympics title.

    4. Cohen- was most consistent skater of decade, winning medals and always in contention every major event from 2002-2010. Would be first if she had just won a couple more big titles with 2003 Grand Prix final title only World victory.

    5. Asada- won 4 World events and Olympic silver, but not as consistent as Sasha, and wasnt around whole decade like Sasha.

    6. Kwan- won 3 World events and Olympic bronze, but also wasnt as consistent a threat for whole decade like Sasha.

Well yeah I guess that makes more sense. Cohen was the only constant of the 2003-2006 quad though which was smack dab in the middle of the decade. Kwan was not a contender after 2004 except at Nationals, and Slutskaya was not a contender in 2003 and 2004. Arakawa was never a contender outside 2004 Worlds and 2006 Olympics. Cohen was always top 3 favorite, always big gold contender, practically always on the podium, and she was the only one you can say that of the middle quad, the most important quad of the decade. She should have established herself as best of the decade had she taken all her opportunities. Nobody doubts she should have easily won the 2004 Worlds, 2006 Olympics, and 2006 Worlds. 2002 Olympics and 2003 Worlds were big chances for her at gold too.
