2013 4CC- Men Podium Predictions

It's a loaded field, and anybody's guess.

It's sure to be safe money to bet on Hanyu and Takahashi making the podium, but if one or both don't, stranger things have happened.

Hanyu, Aaron, Takahashi, Miner, Rippon, Reynolds, Mura, Song, Yan, Ten, Rogozine, Balde

or: Hanyu, Takahashi, Aaron, Miner, Reynolds, Rippon, et al.

or: Miner could make the podium and Aaron come in fourth

Making the podium will likely depend a lot on which guys go clean programs with successful quads in both programs.

I think Miner will be the 3rd. He took bronze medals three times in Japan (2009JGPF, 2011NHK, 2012NHK). Also he finished 3rd at last year's 4CC.

Ross has been very consistent in making impression this season. So my third pick is Ross.

I am going out on a limb and picking Aaron to win the bronze, after Hanyu & Takahashi get gold & silver (in any order).

Mura and Aaron, and maybe possibly Song or Yan, could potentially score higher than Ross, but they aren't the most consistent, and apart from a very on Mura, who tends to run hot and cold, Ross should have a PCS edge on all of them. So I think the odds are good Ross medals unless the other guys skate clean with 3 quads (Aaron and Song are capable of that, Yan and Mura have nice quads, but I don't think they plan 2 in the FS, unless they've recently changed their layouts). So hopefully Ross can land on the podium which would help him going into Worlds. If Max can finish 4th or 5th, which I think is very possible and fairly likely, that will also set him up nicely for Worlds.

Of course RickyD was not initially listed in this poll because who knew he would end up competing in Adam's stead!? And then end up being ahead of other U.S. guys in third after the short program. Way to go Ricky! He must be at the full strength he was missing at Nationals.

I know these type of polls carry absolutely no logic or statistical accuracy, but it's also quite funny that Han Yan received zero votes. Not to mention that Dai is lurking off the podium after the sp having been saved by rep points.

"Whither thou goest, figure skating???" Despite the often unpredictable, controversial and entertaining chaos, hmmm, I'm not so sure I'm willing to continue going with thee.
