This news made me teary when reading them at the Russian news thread.
It’s always the hardest stroke of fate to lose close relatives, but it’s even worse when it was not possible to be with them to say goodbye. He has my deep compassion. Condolences to Maxim and all the best for Euros and for overcoming this big loss.

I have not seen anything official. However, it seemed unexpected ( he was building a house for his family outside of Perm), and Leonid Trankov had a history of heart trouble.

According to l'Equipe ("père de Trankov, décédé dimanche dernier d’un infarctus."), Trankov's father died from a heart attack.

Always sad when people die too young and unexpectedly, and it's even more stressful for the athlete when it's at a time when they are under the pressure of competing too. The heart is torn even more.

I thought I'd posted in here the other day, but see I hadn't. The late nights watching the Aussie Open is catching up w/me I guess. Anyway...

My deep and sincere condolences to Max, his Family and their Friends on the loss of his Dad. Also much love from this Cdn fan as Max competes for the rest of not just this year, but next as well. I'm glad he's got Tatiana w/him during the next little while, as he won't be alone.
