When I saw this thread title, I immediately thought of T&D's Barnum number. So innovative, it really helped turn another page in ice dance.

I thought of 'Circus circus' hotel & Casino in Las Vegas when I saw this thread, and was surprised that it was not in another forum :lol

IIRC Savchenko-Szolkowy had a clown routine in one of their SPs but I can't remember the details.

I feel it's necessary to get in on this thread. Not that circus history is one of my greatest obsessions or anything... Cough.

Chock/Bates have a circus themed SD this year.

I can't believe I forgot about this routine, especially since I just re-watched just a few weeks ago. Love her!

    LOL! Love your location btw!

This isn't a circus theme program at all, and it might fit better under opera, but speaking of clown-theme routines, Gordeeva & Grinkov skated to music from Pagliacci "The Clowns"

Music-wise it may not fit but they wear clown costumes so we can make an exception for Gordeeva/Grinkov

Sort of going off topic, but looking back at G&G's Tarasova year, I absolutely love their Scherenzade program. They also skated to Send in the Clowns for the slow part of their 1986 LP, but the program really had nothing to do with circuses or clowns, even in a periphery way.

Early in their career, M&D had a circus themed short program to the music Entrance of the Gladiators, which is one of the best known circus marches.

Didn't Urmanov skate to music titled "Princess of the Circus"?

Stars on Ice had a Circus-themed cast number. Kristi Yamaguchi in oversized pants and Tara Lipinski flying up in the air with helium balloons. It was great!

Not really a program, just small piece from a spectacle on ice but Jana Kokhlova and Maxim Shabalin are great especially around 0340 when she performes without safety string, wire ,belt and etc.

This was the first thing I thought of when I saw the title of this thread, Rudy's.

And next I recall a clown-themed program G&G were working on before Sergei died...

What program was that? I know Katia & Sergei were working on their "Grieg" routine around the time of Sergei's death, but I wasn't aware that they were working on any other routines. They did have a routine to Pagliacci's "The Clowns" during the 1st part of their professional career: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-a8pJ7zjhA

I saw this one live at a Russian show – it was hilarious.
Here is the same programme with a different cast (Averbukh, Klimkin, Abt): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sx54F4xVSl4

And here is another version of Urmanov’s Princess of the circus – this time in competition with some great jumps:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WUMkksUUX7I (Skate America 1996 LP)

Petrova / Tikhonov also skated to it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wc8H5ZjBJKQ (EC 2004 LP) – it’s one of my favourite competition routines from these two.
