    Bump...

Confirmed selections/entries after Europeans and 4CC?

Reportedly the Russian team will be finalized after the Russia Cup Final in Tver, Feb. 16-19: http://www.fsuniverse.net/forum/show...=1#post3830161

ETA link to Team GBR: http://www.iceskating.org.uk/node/5906
    Ladies: Jenna McCorkell

Men: There are currently no men meeting the TES requirement

Pairs: Stacey Kemp and David King

Ice Dance: Penny Coomes and Nicholas Buckland

We would like to wish all selected skaters the very best of luck at the World Championships.

Skaters who may achieve the TES score for the ISU World Figure Skating Championship 2013 in the remaining seasons' competitions prior to the World Championships will be considered as reserves. In the case of the Men’s entry, there are still qualifying competitions being held in which our senior men are competing. If any meet the TES requirement by 25th February 2013, they will be considered for inclusion within the GB Team being sent to the Worlds. If more than one man meets the qualifying standard the place will be subject to our selection process of 2 x British + highest international score. The man achieving the highest score will be selected.

The fix is in - click on Kevin Reynolds' name - already shows him as 2013 World Champion.

As much as I like Balde, this is the right decision. At Canadians and 4CC, Andrei earned that spot.

Great news about Weaver & Poje! Hope they can skate well enough to have a decent result or don't have a set back in the next 3 weeks.

“Kaitlyn underwent a successful surgery and the team is back on the ice in training mode,” said Mike Slipchuk, Skate Canada High Performance Director. “We will continue to monitor their progress over the next few weeks to determine their readiness for the world championships.”

Javier Raya will not be going to worlds - it appears the Spanish federation think they have a better chance of keeping their two spots for next year if they only send Fernandez & rely on him to place in the top ten, rather than risk Raya not making the free skate and Fernandez having a meltdown like last year.

That makes absolutely no sense... They do realize that Fernandez melting down will result in only 1spot regardless of whether Raya is there or not right???

Well, if Raya doesn't make the free, Fernandez has to finish in the top 4 to keep 2 spots. If Fernandez is the only entry, he just has to be top 10, which he managed last year even with a free skate where it felt like he popped every other jump.

No, If Raya doesn't make top 24, Fernandez has to be top 10, if he made top 24 he can be top 12 to maintain to spots. But if he is single and places top 2, they send 3 skaters next year. That's what happened to Italian ladies 2009, when Valentina injured herself.

Is there a legitimate third skater though? If not it seems silly. Should Raya make the free it gives Fernandez extra room to (hopefully not) bomb. If he doesn't, it's still the same top ten that's needed. Meanwhile Raya is denied experience that would help next season.

Raya could finish DEAD LAST and Spain will STILL keep two spots as long as Fernandez is TOP 10. Someone put the spanish fed out of their ignorance as soon as possible.

I think they're hoping Fernandez will qualify three entrants to the Olympics. With Raya, that's nearly impossible.
