Menshov or Kovtun - Which one would you pick to go to Euros?

Neither one. Gaschinski should have gone. Why would the World bronze medalist and European silver medalist of the last 2 years get no benefit of doubt coming 4th, but a junior skating coming 5th does.

I agree that he certainly should have been chosen above Kovtun, if that's what it comes down to. But I certainly would not have picked him over Menshov. Gachinski has been having an awful time of it over the last ten months or so, with personal problems and this physical problem that I'm sure the federation would rather see him sit out and get right.

Poor Menshov. This might have been his last chance to go to an event that big, and there was no reason to deprive him of it for a youngster clearly not ready.
