Great lady, RIP. Her most famous quote lives on; asked at a 2002 ice dance committee about risque lifts, she said, "If I want a young man waving his partner's assets in my face, I can rent a porn video. The males are acting like pimps." It was used and reused so often in the press, I think she regretted saying it.

She sounds like a great lady, and to live to be 90 years old, we all can only wish to live that long, especially as a skating fan! What memories she must've had, and all the changes she saw throughout the decades...

She really will be missed. She still actively judged a few test sessions locally in 2012, though she has been winding down her judging in the past few years (less far reaching travel, etc.).

I only crossed paths with her over the past few years. When we talked it really was "all about the kids" (or at least "the skaters" in the case of adults), and she was great about "telling it the way it is" while still remaining welcoming and encouraging.

It sure feels like we're loosing a disproportional amount of US Figure Skating judges in recent years due to death or health reasons -- a strong, enthusiastic generation of very active and positively influential judges. Many low ranking judges we've lost have also made a great impact on the sport in more close-knit local levels. For as much of a "bad rap" judges in general seem to get from the fans, the long-time skaters, skating parents, and coaches really come to understand and appreciate the majority of judges who volunteer an incomprehensible amount of time for the good of their sport.
