    How was your 2012?

Last year at this time, I resolved that for every week of 2012 I would try doing something new that I had never done before, be it big or small. I can't remember who on this forum gave me the idea - Marge? but it was fantastic, and I'm so glad I did. (Thanks!)

Some were big and planned for (moving to a city I knew nothing about, starting grad school), some were little and less significant (braving the scary task of cooking fish ), some were unplanned and unexpected (locking myself out of the house and frantically trying to come up with a solution).

All in all, it was a pretty good year

How about y'all? Did you manage to stick to your resolutions... make any big changes... do anything you'd always dreamed of?

2009-2011 had a lot of major transitional moments for me (loss of job, new job, buying first home, deaths of close family members, marriage of immediate family members) that I was a bit relieved that 2012 was perhaps more lowkey but I did thrive in that sense of stability.

The biggest achievement I accomplished in 2012 was finishing my first half marathon. A great experience that I will continue to do. Planning to do my next one in Portland. I think it'll be a great way to explore a city.

I had dinner with a dear friend last week and we were talking about taking classes again. Not academic classes--my many years of post-secondary graduated have eradicated any intellectual curiosity I may have had inside me. But classes to learn another language, yoga class, mechanics class, or dance class (a fellow FSUer who shall remain nameless takes dance classes and I think it's so awesome). Something.

The last year for me was much better than the last couple that went before it.

My year was great. My entertainment company landed a major contract with a huge Casino here, and I just got back from Surabaya in Indonesia setting up a show with Aussie actors/singers for a three week "Cinderella" gig. Now they have requested 7 more shows so my next year is set too. I have been so busy of late I haven't even had time to come on the board! We have 38 people working tonight (NYE) at that Casino, including two shows I've choreographed; a Latin/Ballrom show plus a Carnivale girls/acrobatic show and aerialists, stilt walker, etc. I'm sorry just to talk about work, but I love what I do and I do what I love. I can't wait to see what 2013 brings.
I guess the hard thing for a lot of people to accept is why God would allow me to go running through their yards, yelling and spinning around.

I took the most wonderful trip to England for a conference in honor of the Dickens bicentennial. So I'm grateful to Mr. Dickens for turning 200 in 2012.

It sucked. What are some of those superstitions you are supposed to do at midnight to give yourself a good new year?

Just before midnight or the last thing on New Years Eve, before you go to sleep, you say "Rabbit, rabbit." Then after midnight or upon waking you say "Bunny, bunny." That might help. You can do this at the turn of each month too. Also, eating black eyed peas brings good luck in the new year. Hoppin' John, a black eyed pea pilaf/stew is a southern tradition at New Years.

It was horrible. One bad thing after another. Crisis level bad things. Which are a nice way of finding out if you have real friends or shallow friends. Turns out I have shallow friends.

Not a good year at all.

Overall a crappy year. It started off good enough, but from June - present it's been one work-related bomb after another.

I haven't decided on a new year's resolution yet. I want it to be achievable. Since I took a hit to my salary this year (and may take an even bigger hit if taxes go up), I think I'll resolve to make and follow an actual budget to track my spending. I also resolve to make my own lunches/breakfasts rather than buying them in an effort to save money.

In China, you're supposed to eat fish if you want to be rich next year

2012 was an incredible year for me. I graduated in December of 2011 so it was still new and fresh as 2012 began. I got certified to teach and began a career as a teacher. Then this past week I got married. Lots of big life changes and I think all for the better!

In Colombia, you wear yellow underwear Also, if you want a to travel you should walk around the block with a packed suitcase.

2012 was a good year, for the most part. I finished grad school, passed my social work licensing exam and started a good job. Hopefully 2013 will be just as good if not better.

Well, from a company and work perspective, it was AMAZING. We finally got all the types of work and contracts we wanted, increased our client base a lot, and are starting out 2013 with a great forecast for a good year . . . which is fantastic because some people here know our company went through a few bad years in a row, and I've been reeling from that for awhile. I feel very optimistic that 2013 will finally get us to where we want to be.

On a personal level though, it was meh. I didn't get to skate or work out as much at all, I got sick a lot, and we entered marriage counseling.

But on the whole i still feel good about 2012. My libido increased as well. Too bad my husband and I are meh.
In my spare time, I like to interview figure skating legends.

I was trying to count blessings.

My job was less stressful this year and I got an unexpected and significant raise. My daughter really transitioned into adulthood and it's a close and happy relationship. I lost nine pounds thanks to the creep-o-meter and wear a size 8, not bad for 56. And my libido is still in fine shape; unfortunately the one interesting liaison of the year lives 6000 miles away. And I bought a wonderful little car.

2013: new job and serious relationship. That's the goal.
