Kwan: Skating champ now has State Department job

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...29c5_blog.html

Senior adviser for public diplomacy and public affairs. That won't involve skating on thin ice, will it?

So proud of her - and happy for her that she has found life after skating.

Very happy that she's found something that continues to challenge and inspire her, and impressed that she feels so committed to public service. I'm sure she'll represent the US with grace and passion.

Was this position created for her? Is it a political appointment?

The article was kind of vague about what the position actually is. I'm not saying it's not an important position or not a substantive one, but I wish I knew exactly what it was.

You think she's an advisor for the Under Secretary?

Michelle really has down-to-earth personality. I love this comment, makes me imagine how she is saying it, with her good old mischievous look

I read it as "Store Department job".

I pictured MK standing at a perfume counter looking like a wannabe drag queen.

A "State Department job" makes MUCH more sense.

What a fantastic year for Michelle. First, engaged to a fabulous man, and now .. a great job. Congrats.

Seeing all the familiar names in this thread, 7 and half years after her last competition, warms my heart

    And yay for the Kween!

I'm always shocked when I her see her age in print. Seems only yesterday-----and makes me realize just how old I am.
