    That gets my vote!
A good rant is cathartic. Ranting is what keeps me sane. They always come from a different place. Take the prime minister, for example. Sometimes when I rant about him, I am angry; other times, I am just severely annoyed - it's an important distinction. - Rick Mercer

Yes it is! The average baby is less than 7 pounds at birth. Even babies born 6 weeks overdue (42 weeks) average less than this baby. It was born via natural birth, not caesarean. Ouch!!!

I think that's a big size. I thought my 1st son was huge, he was 8 lbs 4 oz and I ended up with a c-section because he wouldn't go through! Then again I am just exactly 5 ft tall, if that matters. lol

My friend had one that was 9lbs 9 oz. She also had two sets of twins, all four over six and half lbs. My cousin had a 10 lb baby delivered naturally. And my aunt's last of six boys was 12 lbs 13 oz and that was a natural delivery, also.

The prince was a big baby, but not huge.

My mom's 5ft 1 and TINY, and she had two kids that were around the 9lb range (my brother & sister) - all naturally, without painkillers. She had super fast labors, too. I'm hoping the latter is genetic; I'm hoping that if I do ever have kids, they're not that big. And give me the epidural ASAP.

I was 7lbs7oz, and I was born two weeks early.

I'm 4'11" and my son was 7lb 10oz. My OB was like, "That isn't right! How did that thing come out of you? You barely looked pregnant! Weigh him again! Holy sh*t!"

Isn't it time for a new thread. The royal baby may deserve his own thread for a while, don't you think?

No, just no. I get the Diana connection and all, but they just can't give their kid the same name as a chain store at the mall that sells plastic dog turds and sex toys. Besides, giving your kid someone else's last name as a first name is way white trash, even when in the case of a name like Spencer that actually sometimes is a first name.

The average baby worldwide? I doubt the average baby in North America is less than 7lbs at birth. I thought the average was 8lbs but could be wrong. I don't consider 8lbs 6oz that huge at all, especially when I'm hearing of all the 9 and 10 pounders lately.

I believe it is a legitimate stat that North American babies tend to be of a lower birth weight than other babies around the world? My sister studied child birth for while so I think that's where I picked that up. I could be wrong, though, but if it's true, that would be why there seems to be some disagreement about weight averages here. For a US baby, eight pounds is on the heavy side, whereas in Europe that might be more average.

If the baby had been 15 lbs, I guarantee somebody here would *still* have gone, "That's not big! I know someone who is 3'5" and had a baby that weighed 25 lbs!"

My friend is your size and she had babies larger than 8 lbs both times, naturally. And her SIL who is loads bigger than her, delivered 6.5-lb babies!

My mom is 5'0" and both of us were about 6.5 lbs, but she has such teeny hips that they weren't sure she could do it naturally.
