Justin Bieber's mother seems to be continuing her half serious run at the Fleiss franchise, but at 37, she's likely too old to fit in (although she's stinking rich and has inroads to famous people on her side). Remember the cougars vs young chicks show awhile back? I wonder if they'd consider an older Bachelor/Bachelorette - 35+, divorcees, people with kids and other baggage, but also established careers and a sense of what they want in a match. I'd probably be the only one who watched

I loved that cougar vs 20 something show with Mark Phillawhatever. It was one of those epic trainwreck shows that needs to come back. Till his Mama got involved, I really thought that the older lady was going to "win" but once mama got a hold of him, no way was that going to happen!

I'm not sure why Fleiss isn't open to using Z-list celebrities like he did with Jesse Palmer, Prince Doggy Shampoo and Andrew Firestone. Ever since Brad 1.0, the only new person has been Matt the brit and that was an epic fail of the season so I guess we can blame Matt for all the retreds.

They did do an older Bachelor - Byron Velvick, US Open winning bass fisherman - he was about 39 at the time. The Bachelorettes were in their 30s, many of them 35+. The contestants got to vote on who would be the Bachelor between Byron and another guy. At the end Byron picked Mary Delgado, who had also been on Bob's season. They lasted 5 years. In addition to the cougar show, there were a couple of seasons of Who Wants to Marry My Dad? or something like that. The dad and the contestant women were older. The dad's adult children were involved in the dates, challenges, and eliminations.

I miss Temptation Island and Bachelorettes in Alaska. Snark without a bunch of heartbreak and rose drama. I think last night with the 'historic' announcement and the letter pimping was their way of hiding a snooze season.

And hell no to Mama Beiber. He'd keep showing up! That'd be worse than BrotherDes.

But yeah, I wish we still had Temptation Island. Right combo of cheesy and some actual feelings and issues. Not long ago they were rerunning it on cable, and it all came back to me - miss it!

I liked that one too! The logistics of it never quite worked somehow, but I remember the lead girl was interesting and there was always a lot going on.

OHMIGOD!!! I know they warned us. But when...instead of Catherine showing up...Chris Harrison did - and he had a letter. Well. I thought I was sh**ing myself THEN. But when Sean opened up said letter...and in it, Catherine said that she liked Sean. I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE!!! Most dramatic rose ceremony EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!

AND...I bet next season they will top this letter-reading moment. Somehow they do it every year, so it will happen, right? Ohmigosh, I think I better refill my heart medication prescription!!!

If I remember correctly Erin Brodie was able to get 2 million out of the show then went on to marry Dr. Will from Big Brother.

Reality Steve doesn't think Bachelor Pad being cancelled has anything to do with ratings. That its more about ABC/Disney deciding that the raunchy nature of the show doesn't fit with the network's corporate ideal. My guess is someone high up in the ABC/Disney food chain didn't like it so it got axed.

I don't think the guys at the house right now vying for airtime are aware of Bachelor Pad 4 being cancelled as I believe they went into sequester before the news broke so we should be ok with lots of guys hamming it up for the camera, etc. They'll be crushed to find out later that it was all for naught. Well till they hit the reunion circuit and get to meet Sean's desperate rejects.
