I got home in time for the last two groups. Chartrand went for the triple lutz triple toe and landed it, plus the flip and the double axel from a tough entrance. Depending on rotations this could be huge. She's my pick for at least third at Canadians.

Great skate from Séguin! She prefers the triple loop to the flip she had used on the JGP. Se could do very well on the JGP next year when the loop is the required solo jump. She has great attack!

Gilles will be on the bubble for qualifying but the scores are tight so she can definitely move up.

Yes as only Lacoste has a bye, besides Osmond, and 18 seniors will compete at Canadians.

A couple quick thoughts from the arena. Osmond and Seguin both have major charisma and star quality, especially Osmond, who really energized the building. Seguin needs major work on posture, spins, and flexibility, but good jumps and the ability to sell the program can go a long way. Daleman doesn't have the same ability to sell the program, but has excellent basic skating and spins. Chartrand is pretty and I love that she's going for the jumps, but she lacks the speed and aggression if the top 3 and I think that made a big difference.

icedance.com just tweeted Alex Paul about their WD from the FD. She replied that Mitch has a bad case of the stomach flu.

There's actually some potential for a good Canadians in Mississauga for the women! Obviously right now Kaetlyn has to be the runaway favorite to win if she keeps up like this. I know Amelie is going to put in a good fight plus with what I've seen from Daleman, Chartrand, Seguin, plus DeSanctis and Charbonneau (if she's on) and Sarah Jourdain all putting up good performances today, I liked what I saw I really think there could be a battle for top 5 at nationals if they all decide to really go for it

No sign of him so far, but to be fair, I didn't see very many senior men wandering around today (I spotted one or two in the audience to watch the ladies). Doesn't look like there were any practices today and Sandhu doesn't strike me as the type to come out and cheer on his teammates, so even if he does compete, I wouldn't have expected to see him today. I'll keep my eye out tomorrow though.

I'm waiting for groups 5-7 in about a half hour, I decided not to torture myself by watching the first four groups, looking forward to the last two though!

Watching Gilles compete is beyond painful, hideously overscored.

Really hope Alexandra Gagnon makes it to nationals, she's too talented a skater not to be there, but just some silly mistakes have cost her today, she's a better skater than she showed.

Alexe wasn't scoring that high back when she still had lutz and flip!
