Silver lining was a very predictable story, but I enjoyed the movie. It was well done. I don't see it as a Best picture Oscar contender, however.

I saw 'Hitchcock' this past weekend. I had heard so no great things, but I enjoyed it. Nice entertaining movie -interesting story about the making of Psycho and Hitchcock's relationship with his wife - a nice marriage in Hollywood. Everyone was very good, especially Mirren. Janet Leigh came across like a really sweet person. It took me awhile to recognize Toni Collette. The meetings Hitchcock had with the ratings board were amusing - things sure have changed.

Imo, it was a fairly realistic portrayal of a person with bi-polar disorder up till one specific scene.

    Spoiler

I liked the movie overall but was disappointed that they caved and turned the last 20 minutes into a rom com.

In exactly 24 hours I'll be sitting in a movie theatre, the lights will dim, a hush will fall - and The Hobbit will begin.

My guess is that the house will be packed...and there may be a peep or two in the midst of that hush!
It's official. I am madly in love with Meryl Davis.

Yesterday I found out that Hobbit is going to be a trilogy, and not just one movie. I am not thrilled about this. I hate having to wait for 3 installments of a story. I was not crazy about the LOTR trilogy either.

I saw Lincoln this weekend. Incredibly good movie.

I saw Skyfall a few weeks ago and loved it. Daniel Craig is just wonderful as Bond. He's made the role his own. He's a different kind of Bond, the most physical Bond ever, imo.

If Skyfall gets a Best picture Oscar nomination, will it be the first ever for a James Bond movie?

Les Mis is running 74% approval currently on rottentomatoes. Among the criticisms are that there are too many close-ups of the actors and too many of the shots are the same. There's almost universal praise for Anne's 3 minutes one-take rendition of IDAD. Most likely an Oscar winning performance for her.

I just scored some tickets to the preview of Cirque du Soliel: Worlds Away on Saturday morning. I'm putting aside the fact that it's a James Cameron production ... and concentrating on the fact that it's Cirque.

Henry Cavill. And it looks like Zack Snyder's visual effects prowess has been used to great effect. And properly restrained.

I wasn't really excited for this one, but the trailer looks awesome!

Okay, so last week, I didn't think ANY of the trailers for the smaller movies looked any good. This week...they ALL do! The first three are going on my To See list.

December 14 Any Day Now (Drama with Alan Cumming and Frances Fisher)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ghwGOuuNy0

December 14 Let Fury Have The Hour (Documentary. From imdb.com: “A documentary that chronicles how a generation of artists, thinkers, and activists used their creativity as a response to the reactionary politics that came to define our culture in the 1980s.”)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BWleS2KfRY0

December 10 The Loving Story (Documentary. From imdb.com: “A racially-charged criminal trial and a heart-rending love story converge in this documentary about Richard and Mildred Loving.”)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h62ZBiHNJoM

December 14 The Girl (Drama with Sienna Miller, Toby Jones and Imelda Staunton)
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4ALGg1gzFc

December 14 Jason Becker: Not Dead Yet (Documentary. From imdb.com: “When doctors diagnosed 19-year-old rock star Jason Becker with Lou Gehrig's Disease, they said he would never make music again. 22 years later, without the ability to move or to speak, Jason is alive and making music with his eyes.”)

I have now seen The Hobbit - An Unexpected Journey, and I have two words for y'all: Thorin Oakenshield. Didn't expect to find myself wanting to throw myself at one of the dwarves, but there you go.

From what I read, this 'dwarf' is a 6ft 2 in. hulk in real life.
