    Natalia Dubova

I was wondering what she was up to nowadays. She was the queen coach of the late 80s-early 90s developing Klimova/Ponomarenko and Usova/Zhulin. She was also instrumental in the early development of Grishuk/Platov. I know she was a consultant for Anissina/Peizerat in 2002.

She seemed to have disappeared a bit after Bourne/Kraatz left her for Tarasova in 1998-1999. With a lot of the talk about certain top teams needing to move from their current coaches to new ones, I was wondering why hasn't anyone considered Dubova. Did she retire?

Well, she was coaching in 2006, remember

I seemed to recall she retired because her husband was not well.

She's coaching in Stamford, Connecticut, USA.

Her junior couple, Cagla Demirsal and Berk Akalin of Turkey, just won Ice Challenge of Graz.

This article from 2009 from the Stamford paper tells her story

In an interview a while back, Evgeni Platov had said that out of all the coaches he worked with, he thought Dubova was probably the best since she was the best at teaching basics (edging, line, posture, extension, etc). It's too bad that favouring Usova/Zhulin meant losing all of future Olympic champions (Klimova/Ponomarenko, Grishuk/Platov, Navka).

I wonder if she'd take singles skaters for skating skills technique classes.
