    Favorite Music of 2012

It's time for our annual discussion of our favorite music of the year. Someone almost always turns me on to some new music.

What are some of your favorite songs or albums of 2012?

BTW, as usual, Amazon is having amazing Black Friday deals on mp3s and CDs. (If there's a Pink, Kelly Clarkson, or Carrie Underwood fan on your Xmas shopping list, check out their CDs on sale for five bucks right now).

I had to think for a while to come up with a favourite or two from 2012, because I found so much great music in 2011 that it still dominates my playlists. (The Civil Wars, Adele, Matthew and the Atlas, Hey Rosetta)

I've been listening more and more to the roots/folk/americana genre that seems to be growing. I've subscribed to the Communion weekly email newsletter and get free tracks from them each week.

The Lumineers new album is pretty great. I especially like their pop hit Ho Hey.

Mumford and Sons new album Babel is perhaps even better than their debut album.

And this is old (2011) but everyone should watch it at least once, because it is fabulous, and the Mumford and Sons guy looks like Animal from the Muppets as he plays- Devil's Spoke - Laura Marling, Mumford & Sons and Dharohar Project

    Birdy - http://www.youtube.com/user/officialbirdy

Not new but new to me - Pink Martini http://www.youtube.com/user/officialpinkmartini hang on little tomato is one of my favorite tracks

This one makes me cry - Magnetic North, it has a beautiful message: http://www.channelapa.com/2011/12/ho...-taiyo-na.html

This is the dedication for the song: Dedicated to our families.

Like the mother and daughter, we all have those moments where we neglect our parents, too busy living our own life, we often forget that on the other side our parents are working hard and have struggled to give us as good a life as they can.

Like the son, pressures from school can be the biggest struggle for young people. While it’s important, sometimes stepping away to find that true peace keeps us going. Whether it’s in art and photography, making videos, singing, dancing, or even video games with friends.

Like the father, jobs and financial worries can bring us down. Especially in these tough times, when so much is uncertain, the greatest gift we have is knowing that there is one constant, family.

Definitely agree with these. For me, I'd also add Black Keys' El Camino although I'm not sure if that was released in 2012.

Ooooh I lurrrve 'Thank You Camellia' too.

My favourite tracks from the album are "My Weakness" and "Rooftops".

The fact that Kris Allen is porny doesn't hurt either.

I'll admit that I really like the song "Call Me Maybe" (and what the Shibs & US swim team did with it).

We saw "Nice Work If You Can Get It " on Broadway this summer (with Matthew Broderick & Kelli O'Hara), and recently got the cast recording - love it!

    Ditto. To everything you said.

I also am obsessed with Imagine Dragons' "It's Time."

These are the few my tired mind can remember at the moment. I may add more later.

    Flyleaf - New Horizons
    Mumford and Sons - Babel
Project 86 - Wait for the Siren
Amanda Palmer - Theatre is Evil
    Arcade Fire - Abraham's Daughter

World-losers and world-forsakers, On whom the pale moon gleams: Yet we are the movers and shakers, Of the world for ever, it seems." Arthur O'Shaughnessy
