BP (British Petroleum) will have to pay the fine on top of the $20 billion settlement for the oil spill. They could still be facing civil lawsuits.

The biggest surprise to me was that they made $43 billion profit this year. Clearly the oil spill did not slow them down.

Thanks goodness they have been held to account and are paying. The Exxon Valdez case went on for years and the people affected got a pittance.
