The organizers are thinking about going for Worlds!
I would love Worlds there except I probably couldn't get into the Hilton with the number of rooms required for competitors, coaches, etc. And the hotel-arena setup was the biggest plus of the location for me.

The Hilton Garden Inn and the Courtyard are also very, very close to the arena--about two short blocks.

We were at the Courtyard and were able to walk most days when it wasn't snowing or extremely cold. There are also some additional hotels about 4 blocks away that are directly across from the Old Market. The only issue would be the weather which gets in the way of walking, i.e. snow, ice and/or wind. Too bad Worlds is not until mid-April or May. Also, the hotels would have to be better informed than they were. I had to print down the event schedules for the hotel staff and they were unprepared for fans coming in at 10 or 11 PM looking for hot drinks or wine. They would have to expand service staff to accomodate that.

That would be fine for Worlds since the weather will hopefully be better in late March. But it was soooo nice not to have to get bundled up every time we went back and forth to the arena. And we jumped back and forth a lot.

I loved Nationals in Omaha and would go back in a heartbeat for another skating event. I stayed at the Embassy Suites....about 4 blocks straight down from the arena and on the main street for the Old Market. I was happy as a clam. When the weather was good I really enjoyed the walk and some exercise. When bad, the hotel shuttle was awesome. We were given a phone number to call anytime we needed them. Even drove us to the zoo and picked us up (one of the best zoo's I have ever been to). The arena was great....good food, nice atmosphere, no bag checks or stupid harassing rules. If I had known how good the set up was I would have come in for the entire week instead of just the senior events. Just everything was excellent. Loved the Old Market too. Also the cost of getting there, hotel costs and tickets were so reasonable. I have a feeling I'll be spending much more if I go to Boston next year. Please keep Omaha on the list for more skating events USFS!

If you look into Boston, I think you'd be pleasantly surprised. We are accessible by a number of low-cost airlines, our ticket prices are very similar to Omaha, and we've negotiated some great hotel deals. We're also a college town, which means that we have a ton of cheap eats options. For more info, please see this thread and our website - www.boston2014.com.

Now back to Omaha - we've only heard great things about the event and it sounds like it will be a tough act to follow.

Your ticket prices are the same as Omaha and your hotel prices are comparable with Omaha's for wonderfully situated hotels in Boston. Given what one would normally have to pay for such rooms, they are an outstanding value. Given what I know from firsthand experience about how SCOB hosts Nationals, there's no doubt in my mind that Boston will be a stellar event.
