While Pani may be confrontational in her presentation and sometimes get carried away in her angst she makes a lot of valid points. She says things outright that some of us only think or feel below the surface.

Doris know, what i am talking about. Especially it was a lot off pleasure to read her commnets about Tessa in Latin dance after 4CC.
Sorry guys, i will not upset this D-W party anymore. Charlie is better, then Dean and Meryl better, then Grishuk. Amen :
You really like to play dumb, don't you, pani? How is liking both teams the same as saying that they are of the same level? But they are rivals - because of the marks that they get. It's plain and simple.

D-W party, huh? When I have stated many times that I like Tessa and Scott more? I even wrote that I always want them to win, and that is true. And where do you see someone saying that Charlie is better than Dean, and Meryl better than Grishuk?

But I am sure that I'll get another playing dumb reply. Because it would be impossible for you to admit that you were wrong about something.

Re: Virtue and Moir #22 - To Russia with love

Yes, Happy Thanksgiving to all our American friends.

I agree that Pani makes some valid points, the scoring for instance. But you could say you think VM are the better skaters without trivializing the work of others, that is not very nice. Who are we to judge this people by their work ethics we think they have? Their social status? It is rude. I do not like DW as skaters, but I can't cross the line and get personal. I don't even know them, so why do it?
Anyway, can we go back to the insightful Carmen discussion? That's much more enjoyable How would you guys improve the diagonal step sequence and the final lift so that it doesn't look as labored?

I wasn't aware of any diagonal step sequences looking laboured. The final choreographic lift will just have to be a wait and see as they do more run throughs throughout the season but I think the position is important to the story. I think with the details of this program and the time that will be needed to perfect it there isn't really anything that stands out as not belonging or needing to be replaced. They are going to continue working with Swan throughout the season and unlike Funny Face and their SD last season where it was easy to see what Marina should change I feel that this year what they are doing is art and I kind of want to leave it to them and Swan to finish their creation. It almost feels as wrong as it would be to tell Picasso not to use so much blue

Pani's purpose is very seldom to daringly speak truth when others are too shy, and much more frequently to deliberately bait D/W fans and make straw men or ad hominem arguments against V/M fans who don't fall into her lockstep. Generally if you fall into one of those categories (or, frankly, most others), you're better off avoiding engaging her in a debate of constantly moving targets. Though I certainly understand the desire to rebut.

And happy Thanksgiving to the American posters.

No, not the diagonal; I meant the lift. Like you, I feel everything is where it should be and nothing should be altered. But I still do not know, for instance, why they got that level 2 in Russia. So I was wondering what can be done to make that diagonal step sequence perhaps flow better and how to make that last lift look less labored. I am thinking that perhaps the problem is (a) the speed and (b) the intro. Not saying they should change it, but maybe if they had more breathing room between the two final lifts or added a transition into the choreo lift that would make him go faster and help her gain more momentum? I am against changing that lift, though. It's absolutely gorgeous and I think they know this. I think they know their lifts this season have garnered a lot of buzz.

I would do that too, among other things, if I could walk to Worlds.

After many years of reading and posting in these threads, I feel that pani becomes frustrated at times and then resorts to sarcasm to make her points. Unfortunately this often causes her message to be lost or disregarded. A different rhetorical strategy might work better, but that is just my humble opinion. None of my business I suppose, however I appreciate pani's contributions (and I'd like to continue to hear them, ideally without the thread imploding ).

    JMO. Onward and upward.

Nice photos from V/M's visit to Parliament and glad to see they received the Queen's Jubilee medal. Congrats to them.

I agree with you flowerpower. I think the implosions that follow are often more of a disturbance to the thread.

So, when is the GPF and will Margaglio have enough time away from the Finland to spend in Canton working on the YP

A source told me that Patrick was skating yesterday at the Gloucester Figure skating club inOttawa. this explains what they were doing in my city.

Mwa mwa XXX ... love and kisses to Tessa and Scott, I look forward to see their Carmen wins the FS at worlds, with hopefully a clean performance with a new WR to seal the legendary program in the making. I want their PCS shoot right up and and where they deserve. Come on judges!!

I wish for T/S and Patrick (I am surprised.. he is right there with Jeremy Abbott) wins the championship this year, I am sick of all the bashing I hear about them, when they are clearly different caliber of skaters all together that looks to do something beyond the COP. The love, attention, work ethics and the expressions are all on ice, it is just amazing. Good work lasts forever, competitions results? It is only temporary.

ITA that Virtue & Moir are different caliber skaters. They are and will be legends in this sport... like A&P, G&P, K&P and T&D.

Does anyone have the link to vid for D/W SD, please? Also, does anyone have explanation for why none of the elite skaters are getting their levels in YP?

The YP pattern is difficult, as many skaters have mentioned in interviews. The choctaw with the leg-crossing that T&S kept practising at the CoR gala is especially tricky, I think.

    Here's Meryl and Charlie's SD:

For my own personal understanding I looked up what is is the trickiest parts to the yankee polka and found this... I haven's ice danced in years... and never did any compulsory dances so I hope I interpreted the steps correctly

    according to the usfsa site

    Section 1-
Steps 12-13 is a key area turn where the woman needs to make a clean left back inside edge to the right forward inside edge. The man needs to make a clean Left back inside edge to a right back outside edge (x3).
Steps 22-24 is key where the woman needs to have clean edges, make the correct turn, correct placement of the free foot and the free leg crossed in front of the skating leg. (It is the left forward inside edge, closed choctaw, right back outside edge to left back inside edge)
Steps 22-24 for the man requires the correct edges of left forward inside edge, closed choctaw to right back outside edge to left back inside edge same as the woman. The judges are looking for the exact same clean edged, correct turn and correct free foot and leg placement.

    Section 2-
Steps 32-33- The woman and man need to do the correct edges and turns. She is doing the right forward inside(3) to left forward outside rocker and he is doing the left forward inside(x3) to the right forward outside
Steps 38-40- The woman and man need to have the correct edges and turns with the woman doing the right forward inside, right forward inside (x3) to left forward outside swing steps. The man is doing the right back outside edge (x3), left forward outside swing to right forward inside (x3)

So based on these key areas, section 2 seems to be the more difficult pattern where the couples need to make sure the edges are clean and precise.
