Some quick hits from cbc gpf preview about T&S.

-Scott has a bit of a moustache (movember moustache?), although I'm not sure he's really capable of growing one, LOL.
-Tracey Wilson commented that they may need to 'simplify' the body movements which can potentially impede their ability to hit those edges cleanly in the SS's. This is why I'm finding that the COP approach to assigning levels is too restrictive and short-sighted. Difficulty is not just about the blade work but how the body movements make the blade work more difficult (this includes having good body lines)!

O no. OK, they could to made this FD easy and re-move all body moves, but could they compete in this case with other teams? Why the medals is so important for them?
now when they will have the same FD it will be underdtanding D-W will win. I know, judges didnt reward T-S for there difficulty, but all people, who understad something in ice dance and modern dance respect this.

They did it very easy at exibitions, so why they listening Tracy and others? They need more time and maybe they could win with Mahler, but its was so good for us they tryt something so interesting and difficult and i dont want to see they will made this FD more simple and will remove interesting moves, because Tracy think they need to do

I agree -will see. But all saw what happened with Funny Face last season. All asked them to put more "crazy Audrey", but "specialists" said they to put more skating arround.

I agree with this. It can be very frustrating. That's why we're seeing basically the same step sequence repeated ad infinitum by all the teams.
But I trust that T&S are aware what special material they have on their hands and will work to find a good balance.

Still, the diagonal step sequence in Funny Face was pretty special, so I hope the SS in Carmen don't lose their essence much. I trust them

Only i think there SS in SD at CoR was made with vey deep edges, with fixing every step? But they got level 3 for it. So they will change it third time. And its hard to think they will get leves 4 for SS in FD after they made changes.
But will see. I hope they could return to the first version after GPF.

-leaving for Sochi today (Sat)
-Why Carmen program challenged them more than any previous program: approach is more intellectual with every body movement having a meaning.
-Why take risk to add difficulty, while appreciated by fans, but not always by scoring system: one of reason stayed in after olympics to push the sport and push themselves
-GPF on olympic ice, what feeling want to have: want to leaving feeling good that skated well, but don't want to hold too much weight (based on their previous experience at the Vancouver venue); want to envision the rink and lay of the land, imagine stands full and flags waving
-2-pair race in Sochi: focus to deliver 2 strong performances, not be too worried about what the judges will reward, and just deliver what they are able to skate everyday in Canton.
-this year: heading into this one, they feel more ready and better to execute (having been able to compete in previous events)
-preparation for worlds at home: essentially they will treat it the same as another world championship but be prepared for the extra pressure, support and enthusiasm; need to stay in zone...

i think scott should keep that mustache for the rest of the season. just add a more debonaire hairstyle for the SD to make it appropriate for that dance. and that mustache will certainly add more heat to carmen

I was dreading this, but I completely understand them. God, I hate levels so much. Hopefully they didn't compromise the artistry in those step sequences. They were beautiful.

Golightly, I was also concerned that in trying to reach the levels they need, V&M would end up watering down Carmen thus turning it into yet another connect the elements styled program. After reading the last article posted it made me feel better. I'm glad that the changes made were made with keeping the artistry of the FD intact in mind. I'm just hoping the judges react positively to those changes. Icedancing needs to go back to FD's like Carmen IMO. FD's that are the perfect blend of technical prowess, skating skills and artistry/creativity that go far beyond just being a competitive piece.

about levels... sometimes I wish there was a choreo step sequence like in men competition. no levels, just GOE.
I know it's an ice dance and it's all about technique, skating skills, edges but still: it's a DANCE and most of step sequences these days are just bland and doesn't fit the music at all.
