Kevin Reynolds withdrew from BC Summer Skate, so he must be a has-been as well.

Which other skaters withdrew from a teeny August event that we can add to the all-washed-up list?
It's official. I am madly in love with Meryl Davis.

^Apparently whoever doesn't skate absolutely clean programs in AUGUST must all be washed up, i.e. Osmond, Sotnikova, Tutk, etc......so why should Fumie be excluded?

Because those skaters you mention are all teenagers and Suguri is 32.

I simply do not understand her career at all at this point. Is she independently wealthy as to afford a life of following delusional dreams of grandeur in a manner similar to Zelda Fitzgerald? We know what happened to Zelda, dying in the insane asylum fire after being committed following multiple failed attempts to be a prima ballerina in her 30's.

Some place competitive and athletic, but ultimately more like an audition than anything else.

Mmm ... I think Fumie has already been too successful to be this.

I think she continues to skate because a Japanese company literally pays her to train, as it says in the article. There is a saying in baseball that we are all told when it is time to stop playing a child's game, some are told at 18 and some are told at 40. She has not been told yet.

She has been told to quit by her family and many other people many times for years, but she wouldn't listen to them.

Do you always listen to what other people tell you to do?
