Evgeni just had a reason to tell people when he finally will retire. Figure skating addicts like you or me, of course, knew when is the proper time to retire from (amateur) figure skating. But ordinary people don't know such a small tip. You should understand him. He is one of the biggest sporting stars in Russia. He had to state about retirement for general media.

Happy Birthday Plush. Thanks for making skating fun to watch and never being afraid to say "I want to win!" (but admitting that father time is taking his toll).

Stéphane Lambiel's tribute to Evgeni, "Caruso":

Hilarious. One of the finest skating jokes I've ever seen.

    Tell me why?

I think they are quite different emotions...
But ... Both programs are great!

Why it's hilarious? Because this program is full of "quotes". But Stéphane did it in a very tasteful manner so that it's funny, but not offensive.

Yes, it's not a very obvious joke - at least, not to those who are not very familiar with the skating style of both Stephane and Evgeni. Those who know their styles very well (or, even, just Stephane's) can notice a spin, half bielmann spiral, some steps and small, a bit exaggerated hand jestures here and there that are not characteristic for Stephane, but are for Evgeni. But Stephane makes it all look so serious and natural, that less well-informed and/or attentive people most likely were not/won't be able to even notice that there's something funny in that performance .

Looked like a very successful show with a full house, many fans flew from abroad to see it. What a lovely party!

Stephane's Caruso was really good!!! I love him even more! (I also love Evgeni's original one by the way! Very emotional and impressed) Yagudin, Ilia, were wonderful as well!! It was a shame that Brian couldn't participate... I do hope he will get well by TEB Thank you Evgeni & his staffs for the amazing anniversary show!!!!

Very funny, I like the program very much. It has Pluhy's spins, steps, hand movements. No 3A, though...

Do you think, there are people who don't knows Evgeni's style, only just Stephan's?

I think Lambiel is meant to do a number as a "tribute to Evgeni", not try to make fun of these movements as you suggested.

I have no idea where you saw that I suggested that Stéphane tried to make fun of Evgeni.

Now, you see, this is exactly the kind of joke which is funny but doesn't have the tact Stéphane had in his one towards Evgeni.

you said yourself "Hilarious. One of the finest skating jokes I've ever seen. " The using of "jokes" could mislead people whose English is as bad as me. Now I know it is not what your meant. Sorry if I offended you.
