agree that the marathon should've been cancelled/postponed days ago, glad they came to their senses today.
Q: Why can't I read the competition threads?
A: Competition forums on the board are available to those with a Season Pass or a premium membership How to View Kiss & Cry

Oh feck off. The runners from overseas (most of those from Ireland are doing charity fundraising) were told it was OK to come and that it was going ahead. Not their fault that NYC hasn't got their shit together.
To think that fun is simple fun, while earnest things are earnest, proves all too plain that neither one thou truthfully discernest.

Feck off yourself. We have serious problems and enough to deal with here without someone half a world away thinking he has all the answers.

(I do feel badly for everyone who invested time and money to get here only to be disappointed, but it's not a matter of getting our shit together. We have a disaster of unparalleled proportions on our hands here. Do agree that it should have been cancelled earlier this week; waiting to the last minute like was not smart.)

While Bloomberg and the race organizers should have cancelled the marathon earlier, and while it's not the runners' fault that NYC hasn't yet gotten its shit together, it's ultimately up to the runners to decide whether to travel to NYC knowing what conditions are like there and knowing full well that they will divert resources away from NYC actually getting its shit together.

My brother in Long Branch got his electricity back this evening.

To me, the great unanswered question about the marathon is it is spelled "canceled" or 'cancelled." I've seen both spellings.

"Canceled" with one "l" is an American thing.

I haven't found a thread for the NBC concert, Jimmy Fallon took the lead with Steven Tyler, Billy Joel, Bruce Springsteen all compiling on "Under the Boardwalk." Beautiful.

I think cancelling the Marathon was the right thing to do. I flashed back to Tokyo Worlds right after the tsunami disaster. I blame Bloomburg. He's no Rudy.

Anderson Cooper tonight (broadcasting from Staten Island) said he saw many portable toilets and generators () behind barbed wire at the starting point for the marathon. Maybe those resources can now be diverted to the emergency effort.

Gas rationing in many Jersey counties on odd/even basis which is determined by the last number on the license plate beginning noon tomorrow. Odd numbers go on odd days, even numbers on even days, license plates that end in a letter are considered odd.

The Jerseyans I know would just swap plates with a neighbor/friend. They're resourceful that way.

Still no power. It's 49 degrees in the house! Wearing 3 fleece tops and two bottoms. Gas stations are mad houses. Can't get ice for coolers.

Glad the marathon is cancelled. I can't understand why anyone would have a problem with that. Certainly it should have been cancelled Tuesday. But to divert security and generators for a race? Crazy!

Double Yay! Hope it doesn't take you too long. I'm hoping the E and R lines get up and running soon.

It is getting colder and colder. Fireplace barely helps. Not a JCP&L vehicle in sight. Tonight is supposed to get really cold. My house is a refrigerator!
